If you get a VBR audio warning when you load the Avi in Vdub, then you must use Vdub-MP3. Here's the guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=142555

If you don't get a warning then you can use regular Vdub. Load the Avi, under Video select Scan Video Stream for Errors. If it reports bad frames then select Audio-Direct Stream Copy, Video-Direct Stream Copy, Save Avi. A new file will be created without the frames masked off by Vdub.

    Good luck.

Regular Vdub cannot handle an Avi with audio encoded using Variable Bitrate (VBR). Some movies have VBR-MP3 sound and Vdub will give a warning when you load it up, you can't miss it. If you get the warning, then just use Vdub-MP3 and follow the guide.
