I am getting the "unable to initialize ASPI Manager" error message each time I start up Spruce Up. I have downloaded the ASPI drivers from the Adaptec site but to no avail. I have no issues using any other program. Only Spruce Up. Please, can someone let me know how to fix this issue?

  2. Did Spruce Up ever work before on your machine?
Are you using an AMD processor?

I have an AMD 1.333 system, Spruce Up would not run on it.
I have an P3-700 system, Spruce Up will run just fine. I don't use this machine for editing anymore.
I have an P4-2.4ghz system, Spruce up runs fine on it. This is my main editing machine and I mainly use Ulead's DVD Workshop for DVD authoring.

  4. which aspi's from adaptec are you using, for xp,
it should be 4.71, some say 4.72 not reliable,
using aspichk, you can see, 4.61 is like win2000
so you better not use that one on aspi32.sys or
    wnaspi.dll, ok?

I checked and here is what ASPICHK tells me:

    ASPI32.SYS VERS. 4.71.2
    WOWPOST.EXE VERS. 4.6
    WINASPI.DLL VERS. 4.6
    WINASPI32.DLL VERS. 4.71.2

If these are wrong, please let me know how to go about correcting them. Thanks.

This should not stop you from using Spruce-Up [ you did not state your version] you should be able to build and author your project. Then just make an export a Disc Image [*.img] and burn with another burn application [ I use Record Now Max]. I can not find a cure since a reinstall, if anyone knows the solution please post. I don't use Spruce often but it still works as mentioned above and I have tried all kinds of ASPI combinations, version and even forced the ASPI LAYER, still the same error even with the latest 471a2 I am using now??

Yeah, I just finished downloading and using DVD Decrypter to burn. I let Spruce Up create an image file and used it. That seemed to work fine. Its just aggravating to get that error each time. Oh well!

    Thanks for the help.
