  1. I have two files, one just under 90 minutes and the other one just over 90 minutes that I want to burn. I used DVD2SVCD to rip the DVD to MPEG2, but I also have bin/cue files which the guide at doom9.org recommended burning instead.

I used the Nero's overburn and burned 1 of the bin/cue sheets. The disc will play on my DVD player, but it's very choppy. Every second the sound and audio pause about five times (although it never stops...each second takes about 1.5 seconds to play), but there are a few seconds when it will play smoothly.

Is there another program that I could use to burn onto 99 minute media?

The website where I bought the media from warns that the process doesn't work if using Nero on a Liton drive (what I have), but their other recommended programs are crashing on me.

They recommend using CDRWIN, Discjuggler, Discsafe, Simdisc. Which of these would be best to burn a cue sheet onto 99 minute disc? I'd really appreciate any help you can give me!

  2. First, what are the sizes of the MPEG and bin/cue files you're trying to burn? I assume they will fit. Not all CDR drives can write to the full 90/99min. Some can only do 89:30 for example. Check to see what the max is for your drive.

Second, I would recommend burning the bin/cue files with CDRDAO. CDRDAO is a freeware program, but command line based. So you might want to get a GUI for it. Popular GUIs include VCDEasy and Xduplicator.

You can d/load VCDeasy from http://www.doom9.org Do a google search for XDuplicator. All three programs are freeware.

  3. The MPEG files are 894MB and 881MB, and the bin files are 907MB and 892MB respectively.

My burner is allegedly capable of burning up to 98:49, and both files are about 90 minutes.

CDRDAO is just disc at once, correct? I made sure DAO was enabled with Nero.

  4. CDRDAO is actually the name of the program, but yes it burns in disc at once mode You can VCDEasy comes bundled with CDRDAO or you can d/load it from http://www.doom9.org

    Sorry for the confusion...

  5. If you can live with a slight quality loss you could feed them to TMPGenc and choose a slightly lower audio &/or video bitrate to shring them to fit on 80 min media. Worth a test on a CD-RW. DOn't forget to load the MPEG2 plugin on this site & set its priority up a few notches.

  6. I'd like to burn to 99 minute CD because I've bought 25 of them for the longer movies in my collection.

I think I'll give the programs Vejita-sama named a try. However, I'd like to ask, do you think the pausing on my standalone is because I burned at 8x? With 99 minute CDs, it's recommended to burn 8x or under, but when I checked the 99min CD compatablility page, it says my drive (LiteOn 48246S) can burn at all speeds. I know the drive is really great because it can burn at max speed on all CDRs or even over the specified max speeds with no problem. Would burning at 2x on Nero be worth a shot?

  7. Well, first of all, make sure the mpg files you created play on your DVD player in the first place, without the overburn! Copy a small clip into a cd-rw or something and test it that way....could be that the original file you're trying to burn wont play. hroom:

  8. Kingnog, good advice. I encoded a small clip onto CD-RW before burning the cue files and the file played fine. The full length SVCD I made also plays on the standalone, but not without audio and video freezes every second.

  9. I want to ammend what I said in my last post. It seems that the test CD I made was actually from a re-encoded version of the file. I have no idea what I did to make it work.

When I tried to cut a clip from the movie without any other editing and put it onto CDRW to test, I had the same freezing problems.

Someone suggested that I should lower my max average bitrate and increase the max and min bitrates...any thoughts or suggestions on that?

(My standalone player doesn't play SVCDs without the VCD header trick or in this case, I used MPGAV instead of MPEG2
Do you have any suggestions for max/min/max average bitrates if I re-encode the file?
