  1. Hallo there.

I have a problem and hope u can help me.

I converted DVD ManInBlack PAL Full screen to a Standard VCD Mpeg1 via dvd2avi and TMPEG.

After cutting off leadin and leadout the Stream had a size of 889000 KB

I want it on one CD ! Burning 800-830 MB is no problem.

SO I converted again setting audio bit rate to 128kbps ( before 224kbps)

Again : File size about 889000 KB

    I did TMPG Mpeg1 Video only : .m1v size 750 MB

    With panasonic mpeg1 encoder i did a .mp2 128kbps with 75 MB
    an 224Kbps with 145 MB.

I tried multiplexing with bbmpeg and with TMPG ( both files on each )
I always get the same file size +- 2 MB

    750 MB + 75 MB = 900MB ? ? ?
That really dirves me mad !

    1) What do I wrong ?
    2) Is it possible to get a smaller file without changing the standard VCD settings ?
    3) Do i have to alternate bbmpeg settings ?
    4) Do I need other progamms ?

    Pleeeeaaase help .

  2. 1 - You're doing nothing wrong

2 - With TMPGEnc that's impossible to my knowledge. Even at a lower bitrate than VCD standard, TMPEnc will add "junk bits" in order to attain a standard VCD standard rate as a "MPEG-1 VideoCD" stream (at least 1374 kbps). Vice-versa TMPGEnc won't take away bits (that's how XVCD works for HIGH stream bitrates and is VCD Compliant).

The only thing I can think of is to turn off Standard VCD Compliance and lower everything under 700 Megs (only standard VCD files can go as high as 800 Megs to fit on one disc).
