    i thought about something.

the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

would it be quicker to encode the video and then after the video finnishes the audio then multiplex.

  2. So true! The are several guides telling you how, by example the ones Sefy has put online (see the link on the left from this site), or the easy2svcd one (www.easy2svcd.tmfweb.nl). Faster, better then do it all in one time.

Would that really reduce the encode time? =)

  4. Actually it does. I prefer to use tooLame to encode the audio over TMPGenc, and CCEs audio encode sucks! Now how much faster I can't really say. One thing to keep in mind is what you want to do with the resulting MPV/MPA files. I like to have seperate files so I can play/edit them.

But this means more steps. If you just want to make a MPEG while you sleep/at work, then a few minutes won't really make a huge difference

  5. How long does it take for you guys to re-encode a movie from avi (DivX) to VCD using the standard VideoCD template in TMPGenc?

For a 90 minute movie it takes me 100 minutes, using the standard VideoCD template in TMPGenc? Don't think that's to bad!

  6. That's 1.1x the movie runtime.

I have a Tbird 1.2Ghz w/ 512MB ram. I only do MPEG2 stuff these days thou. With CCE I get encode times around 1.1x the movie runtime, but with TMPGenc I get ~2.5x the movie runtime. Not sure what I'd get with MPEG1, but it would be faster

Do a search on this and you'll find lots of systems/setups vs. time.
