I have a great number of jpeg photos (up to a hundred thousand ones) and I need to make a video from this jpeg sequence. When I work with Sony Vegas 9 it takes about 5 minutes to integrate even ten thousand jpegs into the project media explorer and everytime when I reduce Sony Vegas window it takes the same time to maximize it back. When I drag all these jpegs onto the timeline it takes even more 5 minutes and disk C is filled with big temporary files and sometimes the unknown error is displayed (not connected with overflowing). Is it possible to reduce the time consumption and prevent the temporary files making?

Run a 64-bit version of Windows and the 64-bit version of Vegas, add lots and lots of RAM, and move your temorary file location to a much bigger driver. Use RAID for storage, and add the files in smaller chunks.

  3. Do all of those things.. and more

Run this whole caboodle on a large solid state disk, probably intel.

10000/300.. so its taking a FULL 30 microseconds(?) for each picture.. shocking
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

So, as I understand, the only solution is bigger RAM, but my 32-bit Vegas supplies only 1Gb max memory access (in the program settings), how can I enlarge this value? I have 4GB RAM (only 3,3 actually due to 32-bit OS), so, as I know, at least 1,5GB (one-half) can be used without any problems.

32bit applications are limited to 2GBs of virtual memory by default, no less, no more. The 1GB limit you're refering to has to be something else.

Vegas allows one to change the virtual memory usage and max value one can set is 1GB = a half of mentioned 2GB. So, the problem is either to change the 2GB OS limit or change the Vegas max available value.

I am still running Vegas 8, but I cannot find such a setting. Regardless, if you are limited by HDD space, get more. You can change the location of your temporary files, so put them where you have the most space. If you are ram limited, then you have to go to 64-bit (OS and application) to go higher.

In the mean time, you just have to work in smaller increments.

Maybe this setting is available only in Pro not Studio. Preferences-Video-Dynamic RAM preview max.

I run Vegas Pro. The Dynamic Ram is for speeding up previews, not virtual memory for the program. Expanding this won't solve your problem.

  11. Use VirtualDub to render the JPEG sequence to an intermediate format.
