  1. I have several VCD files that I can burn to a CD and play in my set-top DVD player. Instead of putting them on CDs, I'd like to burn them to a DVD (I have a Pioneer A04) using Nero.

When I open Nero, it asks me if I want to make a CD or a DVD. If I chose CD, I am allowed to put only 700MB of data on the disc, even if I chose the DVD burner with a blank disk in it.

If I choose to create a DVD, I am asked to select "Data" or "Other Formats". After selecting "Other Formats", I am asked to choose "DVD-Video" or "Create DVD from Image File" so I choose "DVD-Video" and am told I need a .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP files, but I don't have those and I don't know how to get/create them.

So what do I need to do?

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks, that looks like what I need, but I'm stuck on the first step.

Where do I get the .dat file it's asking for? I don't have an MPEGAV folder.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Have you tried doing a search for *.dat on your disk.
The dat file is the actual movie.

    Good luck

  5. I was so glad to see this question asked, as it's exactly what I'm trying to do right now! My question though, is if my movies are on 2 cds, do I need to merge them with TMPGEnc and then extract the audio? Or can I skip that step and just burn them consecutively with Nero? I know there will be a slight pause, but I'll get over it!

Thanks for your info.. I think I really can do this!

  6. You can do either, but I don't like the pause and would merge them back together first. But it really doesn't matter.

Well, I take the uncompressed TV show and use Pinnacle Studio 8 to turn it into what I guess I've been callin a VCD (though I guess technically it's just an MPEG1 file).

Smurff, I tried searching for *.dat and came up with some returns, but none of them were evidently related to any of my video files.

    Now what?
