  1. I am using Premire 6.5 to capture DV video via firewire card, it works perfectly in first half hour with 0 frame drop. However it stoped after 40 minutes continueous capturing, the video preview came to a still , but the camcorder does not, it still plays video back in its LCD.
I use a seperate 80G hard disk to store the captured avi file, it has NTFS file system and runs in UDMA-5 mode and has more than 30G left after the capturing stoped. I did turn off screensaver and other uncessary program and did not start any other program after capturing, does anybody know what is going on with Premire, is it too tired??

this will happen when there is a audio glitch -- like a mic being dropped or plugged in or spike ..

its a known bug ... it works slightly better in 6.5 (some say not) ..

try to capture with DVIO or Scenalyzer or something else ...

if he was capturing on a 80gig drive and there was 30gig left and since it was a ntfs drive -- thats not a problem ..

  5. BJ_M is right, NTFS file system does not have file size limit, and I already captured more than 20 gig for the first half hour. If I try to re-capture after the stop, Premier will start capture again, but it only works for several minutes and then stop again. However, if I re-start the computer, Premier will work for another half hour and come to a stop, again!!!

  7. I use Premiere6.5 to capture.
    I've got a P4 2.0Ghz with 1GB of ram.
I capture via an Adaptec4300 firewire adapter to an 80GB EIDE drive.

I have captured 60 minute DV tapes at least a dozen times.
    Never lost even 1 frame.

Not sure this helps, but I just wanted to let you know that it does work for at least one person....and is not a bug or something.
