Hi , I have quite a few 8mm camcorder tapes and am trying to compile them onto a DVD-r . I am able to capture them on to hard drive with ATI All in Wonder but when I try and burn them to DVD-r using DVD Video option in Nero ( latest ) I am told that inf and bup files are missing . How or what software could I use to achive my goal ??

You must encode them to DVD compliant mpeg if they are not already and then 'author' them to DVD-video format. You can't just burn mpegs to a DVd-r and expect it to work.
There is a lot of info on how to do all this in the various guides listed on the left of this page. I suggest you start with WHAT IS and check the requirements for DVD. Then take a look at 'CONVERT' and 'AUTHOR'. If you get stuck come back and ask specific questions, but take your time and try to learn first.
