  1. Im frikken tearing my hair out, Ive ripped blade 2 and encoded it 3-4 times at differfent rates but my PS2 refuses to play them properly!!!!!

Ive used cheap Mirror media both +RW and +R both work fine in the PC yet refuse to in the PS2, im getting jerky play and sometomes it pauses and freezes the player, I have one of the latest PS2's too, not the old one, whats pissing me off is DVD games work fine off these media.

I also burnt it too Phillips DVD+R media which i thought was the best around and same thing.

So WHO has the solution, what media do you use and what do u burn it with, drive+software????

Im pissed off as the PS2 is my only DVD player for the living room.
Verb media and never a problem....

  2. ok guys this is not a media issue, shall I tell you why???

I just did a straight copy of a DVD5 disc, it was the extras disc that came with 'Braveheart' UK.

I copied it by using DVD Decrytper to HDD and then to Phillips DVD+R using Nero, worked flawlessly.

So Im thinking when u re-ecode a movie it mess's it up and the PS2 cant cope????

  3. Cheap media often gives poor results unless you've done thorough testing.

Read the comments on the PS2

  5. Yeah but how can the media make a difference if the fact is when i do a straight copy of a DVD onto cheap media it works fine???

It appears to be that the PS2 does not like re-encoded media that uve messed about with??

    Something is a foot here.

can someone give me a link or explanation of what reencoding does to a VOB.

  6. I've been trying for 6 months to get my own home made dvds to work properly in my ps2 and it goes without saying that the ps2 is a really, reeaalllyy bad dvd movie player. Anyway, try these they seem to help with me...

    Use TOP quality media.
Use Recordnow Max to burn the dvd using the non-joliet data option.
RealaT Bytes, but that's what life is.

Do you have a modchip installed?

I have a magic2 installed and the DVD picture is jerky and freezes. The solution is to add a .1uf capacitor on the 'S' wire. they say that cures it.

  9. hmmmm now this is makes things a little more interesting.........

(BTW my PS2 is Version 5 UK as it has R at the end of the model number meaning it also has the latest DVD drivers on ROM i believe)

Anyways I just went round my friends house and the DVD works flawlessly in his Version 3 machine, YES he has a old PS2 with the old DVD drivers, a PS2 bought on launch day in the UK.

Both of us have the Messiah chip installed.

This is cheap Mirror media!!!!!!!!! DVD+R!!

So now it would appear the issue most likely lies with the latest DVD drivers I believe they have issues with re-encoded material.
