    Hello all,
I am looking for a program that will convert from my minidv camera to a dvd in one step. So I hook up the camera, put in a blank disc, press capture, and come back later to a completed dvd. Anyone know of any good solutions for this? freeware would be preferred but not required.
    Thanks

The easiest would be to use a DVD recorder with a FireWire input.

If you could find a 'on the fly' software converter from DV to DVD, the quality would likely be sub-standard.

Why not just use FireWire and transfer to the computer hard drive with WinDV, then encode and author to DVD format with the program of your choice?

Or what I do for quick and easy is to use WinDV, then ConvertXToDVD to convert. But there are lots of converters and encoders available once you have the file on your hard drive, both freeware and pay.

Thank you for your responses but i think you misunderstand what i want, it doesn't need to be on the fly, it just needs to be simple, it could capture, encode, and burn with minimal input from me, I understand i would not get the same quality as if i tweaked the settings on each step, but i am not looking for that. I am just looking for a way for my wife to be able to send me dvds, the easier it is for her, the better. The thing is i know something like this exists because i stumbled across it onetime it was a trial but i tried it and it worked, but for the life of my i cannot find what it was or where i found it. I will try your software solutions myself redwudz, and see if they would be simple enough for her, thanks for the input

If it was my wife, I'd follow redwudz' and Lordsmurf's DVD Recorder advice...
2nd best would be WinDV to capture/transfer, convertx2dvd to encode+author.
