  4. I do not have my PC with me now.But it is something like as follows.

    1. install virtualdup. (from the tools section of this site, you should be able to find it).
    2. run virtualdup -> FILE -> open AVI (i.e., your StudioAV file).
    3. FILE->frameserver->specify output file.
    4. run TMEPGEnc.
    5. Enter the output file in 3 as the video input in TMEPGEnc.
    6. Click START to start encoding.

    Have fun.

    Sorry, but Virtualdub is vaporware which will not open AVI files created with any software anyone is likely to use. FACT: Virtualdub cannot open AVI files I create with Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.0. FACT: Virtualdub cannot open AVI files created with Adobe Premiere. FACT: Virtualdub cannot open AVI files created with VEGAS video editor.
    Virtual is vaporware. It won't work on any AVI files you are likely to have, and it will not capture with any video capture device you are likely to own.
    If you are as disgusted by this as everyone else, permit me to suggest that you complain loudly and vociferously to the author of VirtualDub until he fixes his vaporware so that it actually works with AVI files people use in the real world.

  6. XED, I personally am getting sick of this shit. If you don't know how to use or don't like a program, say so. To continually bash one of the most useful programs available for this hobby, and to make false statements about it, is unacceptable.

    VDUB opens every AVI type I have tried, from over 30Gig cap files, Divx 3 and 5, XVID, segmented avi, MPG1, etc. Its the only cutter I use and never gives me a synch problem. You probably have an issue with DV Codecs.

    On top of that, it is free, often updated, and very popular. There are many filters available for it and it frameserves to CCE and TMPGenc without issue.

    BTW, the definition of vaporware is software advertised and promoted but never released.

    To the Newbies - XED probably has his VCR clock blinking 12:00 and buys lots of floppies cause he hasn't figured out how to format them yet. Ignore his advice on VDUB, check other opinions, I think you will find he is just about the only person with this attitude. Some possibly personal reasons for this have been suggested in other posts.

    I personally think that Xed has been spurned by the author of VirtualDub. Xed is sexually attracted to the author, but the author wanted nothing to do with Xed.

    evening,

    wirenut1
    basically, if you are talking about about DV, then you need to first:
    * D/L a DV codec and install it
    * then, tmpg should be able to open it
    * also, vdub should be able to open and read it as well.

    If AVI file is based on a divX codec, then, ylou need to:
    * D/L the codec that THAT divX file is based, ie, divX v3.11 or divX v5.0.2
    * install it, and tmpg or vdub should be able to open and read it

    I think that's about it.

  11. I tried it this morning. It works like following.
    1. Run Studio -> edit -> open your video file -> make movie -> AVI -> format DV
    2. install virtualdup. (from the tools section of this site, you should be able to find it).
    3. run virtualdup -> FILE -> open AVI (i.e., your Studio output file).
    4. FILE->frameserver->specify output file -> start.
    5. run TMPGEnc
    6. select the output file from step 4 as video input.
    7 start encoding.

    At least, this works for me.
