VirtualDub does it much better - resamples the audio to match the correct FPS. That's why in VDub you have all the frames preserved, they are not lost forever.

Once more, I compare all my captures versus a solid and trusted reference, a DVD or DVB-S/DVB-T of the same source, and guess what? I have all the 150K frames.

Your test sucks because is crap, no other reasons.

Oh, so now you're even arguing with the author of VirtualDub and you know better what he did? Cute

So test on two different sources? Cute if I believed such a pointless test.

Funny enough i did buy one, waiting for it to be delivered, but will have it serviced, first.

Thanks again for all the advice, people.

    Yes, the matrix is cooler

By the way, I was the first to show in this thread the differences in work how VDub and AmarecTV (correcting lollo's false claim), but you didn't have much to say about the topic there (#73).

I provided a small clip at the below link as proof of the output. Thoughts ?

Plenty of colour bleed but otherwise not bad. The display aspect has been coded incorrectly but that's a minor detail.

Unfortunately, that doesn't tell us anything (different VCR, different tape) for your situation; you'd need to give him your footy tape and capture the same segments as you've done to compare, and even then, it could either be the VCR or the digitiser (or his stabiliser if he's using one) that is making the difference.

Everything in the test chain must be the same apart from one different component; then you can truly say "XXX is causing this".

Yes, so? It is not like each frame will have its own FPS.
    Yes, it does.
    Not in VirtualDub.
    Your jitter doesn't go anywhere.
Is VirtualDub breaking the laws of physics? 🤣
Hmm. You know physics? Please do tell us what laws of physics you're talking about?
    Your argument is pretty stupid.

Do you? Then tell us how exactly VirtualDub applies the jitter to the final file in my settings, where I explicitly tell it not re-synchronize video and audio.
Head switching noise? Use my Custom JVC VCR Service Remote Control (PTU94023B) to eliminate it!

    What an incredible charlatan!!!

You were the first in nothing, and you did not correct any "false claim" from me.

I explained how Vdub options works, why they are there and in what AmarecTV is different. Yours are just BS to support your wrong beliefs

I can never understand why people show video samples when the player is still busy tracking the tape and/or is not tracked properly.

Also the "samples" are confusing as they are both in PAL and NTSC??
What is the real video format (PAL or NTSC) of those 2 VHS tapes?
And what country location are you from?
That LG V281 combo has so called "multi system capabilities", possible there are wrong settings used and the capture cards get confused with the outputted video format?
Also, what model is that LG V281 combo exactly??
    US/world or European (SCART)?
Because i read from the manual:
    VCR Features:
    NTSC playback on PAL TV
    PAL playback on PAL TV
PAL playback on NTSC TV with use of a video converter or on a multisystem TV
As mentioned earlier, try first getting decent video captures from a stable video source like TV box/DVD whatever.
Also saves needless stress/wear/tear on your equipment.
Once you get decent results and understanding the process involved then start with the VHS capture process

I don't know what the source tape of that video sample is, but it looks like crap to me.
Was it the original commercial tape (PAL/NTSC) or a dubbed copy?

Original tape. NTSC. Released by Warner Brothers.

I used two usb capture devices and I used them on a pal tape, and also twice on an NTSC tape. I wanted to show the difference of each capture device on each tape.

I'm from South Africa, thus we use PAL, however The Batman film is NTSC which my combo player does play.

    Model is: V281-W1.

In Blackmagic Intensity Pro/Batman, there's 6 still frames per 15. Should be no still frames; that is, there should be movement in every frame. Removing the stills gives 18 frames per second; it plays smoothly but the capture might have removed good frames. Did it de-interlace on the fly? Also, the tape is probably 29.97fps. The Batman file is 30fps.

Capture that Batman tape with your Roxio/Nero setup and compare it with your footy game. Batman's obviously in better shape than footy, so you'll be able to compare the stabilities.

  20. I cut out that clip from the original capture using avidemux. Not sure if that added more problems.

Ok, that model is not a real multi system VCR but a regular PAL device with so called NTSC playback on PAL TV (PAL60)
Not many capture devices support capturing PAL60.
This is a frequently recurring problem on this forum as well.
    Videohelp: PAL60

One thing you should do is set the color system to PAL instead of AUTO.
This might prevent the player from incorrectly switching to MESECAM during playback.

As long as you use Video Copy and Audio Copy, it shouldn't.

But given that it needs work and then re-encoding (eg moving the reds to the left), MP4 is not a recommended capture format as you're working with a lossy source video. Re-encoding lossy means even more lossy, if you get my drift.

The most important element will be the Panasonic ES-10 you're waiting for (while waiting for a better player).

The Hauppauge USB-Live 2 is an excellent card.

Recently a new version of it has been introduced on the market, with internal hardware change; not sure which version you will receive (I never used this last): https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/417100-Improve-Hauppauge-USB-Live2-capture-quality

Let us know when the devices arrive, and we'll help you to improves your captures!

Excellent is too benevolently, IMO. But yes, it is definitly much better compared to what the OP has used so far.
Neither do I have the latest edition of that card, so there is a chance. I wonder whether it is still based on the Connexant CX23102 chip.....
