  1. Hi Everyone

My goal is to achieve true-to-life skin textures, skin wrinkles, and skin tones as I see them with my eyes, especially the redness of areas like the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands, I plan to shoot indoor video at 1080p 50fps for smooth motion

I currently use a 1-inch camera, the Sony ZV-1, which performs well, However, I’m wondering if a camcorder could do even better in terms of true-to-life skin. I’m not familiar with camcorders, so I’d like your opinion

I’m looking for a camcorder under €900 ($1000) and weighing less than 1000g (2.20 lb) for portability

    Thanks a lot

Nothing can match the human eye yet, but a good start is a 4k camera or camcorder.

Thanks a lot for your reply. So portable camcorders aren't designed to produce true-to-life skin ? Or is the ZV-1 that I have better in this case ?

Not sure what you mean by "true-to-life skin" but high resolution sensors and HDR can get you close to a very high quality video, unfortunately these will likely be over the budget you set for your goal.

A budget starter camcorder will be this 4K HDR camcorder from Canon , It has 12-SDI and HDMI outputs for saving lossless footage to an external portable recorder, It is however over your budget.

  6. Once you get past the bargain bin I think you'll find that proper lighting is more important than what camera you use.

  7. Thanks a lot for your answers I appreciate it, and sorry for my late reply. When I say true-to-life skin, I mean the skin should look natural as I see in real life. I will raise my budget to 1500 euros if there is nothing under 1000 euros.

You can spend a million euros on a camera and never get the results you seek.

Absolutely nothing made will ever be able to replace or reproduce the results of your own eyes and how your brain processes what your eyes see.

Your eyes see 3D depth in color and B&W, shading, color depth along with 3 dimensional aspect that no camera or even monitor screen can capture or reproduce.

Even your eyes have defects that considerably alter what you are seeing, pretty much everyone has some form of color blindness, for most, it is so mild that your brain learns to reinterpret and fill in the missing information. Some folks have severe color blindness with one or more colors or shades/hues..What may look lifelike in your eyes on a camera and monitor may not look the same or "life like" to others. For that reason there are specific standards color charts for color and shades.

Had a co-worker that was color blind to green, to him green looked like grey..

Buy what you can comfortably afford and call it good..

But be aware that even your monitor or playback on someone else's monitor/TV can skew the final results that you see.
