This is guide of N_m3u8DL-RE tool installation - 2026

Download latest version of N_m3u8DL-RE tool from release section for your OS : https://github.com/nilaoda/N_m3u8DL-RE/

Installing on Mac:
(Download osx-arm64 for Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4 etc.)
(Download Intel (osx-x64) for MacBook Pro/Air (Intel) etc.)

✅ Steps
1. `cd Downloads`
2. `tar -xf N_m3u8DL-RE_v0.5.1-beta_osx-arm64_20251029.tar` or `tar -xf N_m3u8DL-RE*_osx-arm64*.tar`
or
2. `tar -xf N_m3u8DL-RE_v0.5.1-beta_osx-arm64_20251029.tar.gz` or `tar -xf N_m3u8DL-RE*_osx-arm64*.tar.gz`
3. `chmod +x N_m3u8DL-RE`

Remove macOS quarantine flag (if needed)
Sometimes macOS blocks software from internet downloads — if it doesn't run, use:
4. `xattr -d com.apple.quarantine N_m3u8DL-RE`
5. `./N_m3u8DL-RE --version` (this command only run in Download Folder)

(Optional) Put the Tool in Your PATH
So you can run it from anywhere:
6. `sudo mv N_m3u8DL-RE /usr/local/bin/`
7. `N_m3u8DL-RE --version`
Output:
0.5.1+c1f6db5639397dde362c31b31eebd88c796c90da

Install required dependencies (optional)
Some builds expect tools like ffmpeg, mp4decrypt, or mkvmerge if you plan to decrypt or mux streams — although just checking version shouldn’t require them. But it’s good to install:
`brew install ffmpeg`
`brew install mp4decrypt`
`brew install mkvtoolnix`


Installing on Linux (Ubuntu etc):
(Download arm64 for ARM Ubuntu/CentOS etc.)
(Download Intel (x64) for Ubuntu/CentOS etc.)
✅ Steps
1. `cd Downloads`
2. `tar -xzf N_m3u8DL-RE_v0.5.1-beta_linux-arm64_20251029.tar.gz` or `tar -xzf N_m3u8DL-RE*_linux-arm64*.tar.gz`
3. `sudo mv N_m3u8DL-RE /usr/local/bin/`
4. `sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/N_m3u8DL-RE`
5. `N_m3u8DL-RE --version`
Output:
0.5.1+c1f6db5639397dde362c31b31eebd88c796c90da

Install useful dependencies (optional)
For full functionality (remuxing, decrypting, merging streams), install some tools Ubuntu doesn’t include by default:
1. `sudo apt update`
2. `sudo apt install ffmpeg mkvtoolnix`


Installing on Windows 10/11:
(Download win-x64.zip)
✅ Steps
1. Extract the ZIP that contains N_m3u8DL-RE.exe.
2. Open PowerShell or CMD inside that folder.
In File Explorer: Shift + Right-click → “Open PowerShell here”.
Run it:
3. `.\N_m3u8DL-RE.exe --version`

Note: Dependencies (optional)
ffmpeg.exe
mp4decrypt.exe
mkvmerge.exe

Put these executables in the same folder or in your Windows PATH so N_m3u8DL-RE can use them automatically.
