  1. I am trying to get my VHSs onto a hard drive. I have a DMR-E75V that is a bit suspect in that although it plays VHSs, it tries to pretend that all my blank DVD-Rs are not recordable! I am hoping to address that later, possibly by firmware upgrade if it is still available? But the DVD part may be broken. (I also have a complete parts DMR-EZ485V, but I dont see moving the DVD across were that even possible!)

Meanwhile I don't have a remote and none is available at reasonable cost. So I can't do much testing.

I did try to buy a compatible one from a place called China and it didn't control anything! When I asked the seller why he thought it was compatible, his reaction was to refund all my money immediately There is no number on it but it doesn't look like the original one. And all the buttons look wrong

The original DMR-E75V remote is a EUR7721x10. The closest thing i can find is another generic one called an RM Series that supposedly controls the DMR-E75V and the DMR-E40V (or 30V) called the EUR7720KYO.

Dos anyone here have any ideas or reason to believe that this RM Series remote for a 30V/40V will also control the 75V please?

I don't have a EZ75, but I do have a Panasonic ES-15, and EH57, an EZ-48 and a BWT-460 and all the remotes work on all the machines. The only difference is the location of the "Display" button:

Your remote is a bit different, with the "crossbar" 4-way button shape, but it looks like most of the actual functions are the same. Don't take my word for it but I'd reckon any one of those Panny remotes would operate your E75.

    Found on Ebay:

Hang about a minute, so this could be my incompetence? The remote sold to me is marked EUR7659Y90. None of the buttons seem to do anything at all. And yes, the batteries are fresh.

Is there anything I can try with it? It IS marked DVD/VHS, even if there is no DUBBING button but it does have a display button, - (it is the left hand one on https://www.aaproductions.net/es15.htm)

If you have an Android phone, you can test whether the remote is putting out any signals: point your remote at the phone back camera and then press any button on the remote: on the camera screen, you will see a mauve/purple jittering light coming from the hole on the end of the remote.

I've just found the manual. Page 3 is giving the remote code of "EUR7721X10".

Is it necessarily bad if the light is plain white?

Never seen plain white before... it's always a flashing purply colour. Try it with your TV or any other IR remote.
