I opened up Edge DevTools, went to Network and searched for mpd so I've got the stream.mpd

How do I find what goes in --key ?

If I leave that part out and run N_m3u8DL-RE.exe it shows me that KID: a8ebb6e7a21febf3ee49af72fdd613cc , so that's the same.

But I know I need the key in order for what I download to be playable.

Oh so the whole thing stays the same. OK. Thanks. I thought it would change when the mpd address changed.

So how would I find that 6b7... on my own?

I was trying to follow this thread, so in DevTools I went to Network and filtered on Authentication but I don't see that in there.

You would need a CDM and then a script that will allow you to request the decryption key from the license server.
If this doesn't make sense to you, I'd suggest reading up on this forum, as a lot of it is explained here in several threads. It's quite a lot of information to just dump here
