  1. ok i got a full movie downloaded and its tmd from kazaa.it plays back in the divx player BUT dont playback in windows media player and i have downloaded and installed the nimo codec pack. and it also plays back in virtualdub. i want to change this avi file to mpeg to i can make a vcd.

ok i opened TMPGEnc the wizard pops up i chose videoCD/NTSC. next
i load my video file sweet home alabam.avi.
now below is expert setting for source and the aspec ratio says "4:3 625line (PAL 704x576)". and BTW im in Canada so do i change that to
    4:3 525line (NTSC)???

and whatever the aspec ratio says under expert setting i go to next MPEG settings...on the video tab and the aspec ratio there says 4:3 525 line (NTSC) and its greyed out so i cant change that and size in this part is 352x240. i then click advanced tab...and the source aspec ratio on this tab says...."4:3 625line (PAL 704x576) and video arrange method is on full screen 320x240 pixels.

do i wanna change anything that says PAL to NTSC regardless what it is....do i just change it? then start decode

Yes ---if you are in a NTSC region then - Source aspect ratio should be 4:3 525line (ntsc)
