Hi,
I connected the hdmi wire to the hdmi port of the video card to the tv.
I connected vga cable from vga port of the video card to the pc.
Now, i am able to route the video to the tv, using playback option.
the default playback option as well as tv playback are available in the options.
Now, Am I mirroing or duplicating the pc screen, with video and sound
can some one say, the exact difference .

When the tv switched off, my monitor turned to one device and whenever the tv is on, the second device shown and the connected playback option turns live.
So, it is now duplicating.
what is the real difference between the two terms please
I wish to state that I have downloaded displaylink software from the web
is it a new one that links the external device easily to the windows systemLast edited by jraju; 14th Mar 2021 at 08:03.

mirroring == duplicating == cloning. all the time. but those only refer to video, not audio.
vga doesn't support audio.

Hi, Thanks . So, you mean to say, that if the source is vga, then it will not support audio.
But, when I connect to tv , i could route the audio thro the playback settings ok
Thanks that mirroring is the same as cloning and duplicating. -
vga is video only. no audio.
if for some reason your pc is "offering" some kind of audio when you choose vga, it is just a coincidence - perhaps it is suggesting analog line audio out. IF so, AND IF your analog line out is actually connected to your tv/monitor's analog line in that often but not always accompanies vga/rgb connections, AND IF your tv will use that input connection automatically when one selects vga as an input, THEN it will appear as if your vga has audio in a similar manner to HDMI. but it doesn't, so even when you fulfill those ifs, it may or may not work the way you would expect it to (if jou are expecting it to work exactly like hdmi).

Hi, cornu, interesting observations.
In vga connection to pc, and hdmi connection to tv, I unplugged the pcs audio jack from the back , and it plays the sound in the tv. The TV icon shown as playback option in the sound settings, as Nvidia High Definition Audio device in ready condition. By selecting this as default, i could route the sound to the tv.
Here I give the splitter connection, so that you could come with some idea. Did you see the two edid files I enclosed.
This has changed to show only monitor connection to pc in my splitter connection scenario.
It lists only one EDid of pc, ignoring total tv connection in splitter scenario.
But i am getting the video if i choose the source as hdmi in tv.
I have one hdmi input in the tv, and one hdmi/dvi input in the tv.
hdmi in put only shows settings on the source , in which I selected the pc as the source of hdmi. No more settings.
But hdmi/dvi, which is also a hdmi port, has more menus lilke hdmi , components .
the connected usb and the hdmi wire on one side of spliltter goes to the cpu.
the connected two ports on the other side, goes to pc and tv. -
Hi, the splitter says , in its page
SKU: HD-102
1 Source over 2 Displays
Resolution: 4K @30Hz
HDMI 2.0 - HDCP 1.4 Protocol Compliant
EDID Management
I think that i bought the hdcp compliant splitter

hi, cornu,
I emailed my concern to the orei . They have advised me to use the copy/tv mode. There is a switch , which can be slided to audo and copy mode.
When i use the copy mode, the audio gets live. But I still wonder, why the display in win 7 show display devices on vga and not in hdmi. Is it windows design or video card design
