  1. I am looking for recommendations of good video editing software that supports MP4 and MPEG files AND has good live phone support.

I bought a GoPro Hero 4 black and love the camera, really like the studio software that comes with it, and love their tech support.

The only problem is it won't support MPEG files created by my Sony camera. After having fun with the GoPro, I thought it would be cool to create videos using both cameras since the Sony has optical zoom.

I tried Magix but had a real hard time understanding how to use it. Then I found out their support is non-existent.

    Thanks forum!

GoPro studio software was designed to only work with GoPro brand mp4 files so no surprise there. I would suggest Vegas Movie studio editor. It should be able to handle native mp4 files as well as intermediate Cineform conversions.

Thank you. What has your experience been with their support?

One thing I like about GoPro is they have extended hours including weekends and I can always talk to a person. With Magix, they publish support hours from 9am - 4pm M-F. So, I took a long lunch and came home just to call them for support only to find it's impossible to get a person on the phone! That doesn't work for me LOL

Can't really say, as I use its big brother, "Vegas Pro", plus it is rare that I have need for tech support, and rarer still that I need it off-hours.

Mad Hornet, support means typically technical support, not support on how to edit video.

Vegas Pro has a very good help forum, and their educational videos are very helpful

  7. You sound like you don't want a pro-style NLE versus something that is very consumer oriented and holds your hand. Have you looked at the software list for editors on this forum? There are many, many to choose from ranging from free to moderately expensive e.g. $100. If I were you. I would try the free versions or those that offer free trials. That way you can get a quick sense if it is the NLE for you. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses and you will never get a single answer on which one is best.

    Good luck!
