I use a PLL (Phase Lock Loop) LNBs for both Ku and C band and they work very well especially for weaker signals.

Which versions you use depend on your location and setup. Europe is different than US.

 The two I use:

Titanium Satellite C1-PLL Phase Lock Loop C-Band LNBF
GEOSATpro SL1Pll Standard Single Phase Lock Loop Ku LNBF

A LNB can only help so much.

If your location is on the border of the satellite footprint, only a larger dish will help.

Might also help if you stated what satellite(s) you wish to pick up.

Those two LNBs I mentioned are among the best rated at present.
The PLL setup is a huge improvement and helps keep the LNB locked on the signal.
I use a 3 foot dish for KU and a 4 foot dish for C band. Both have motors.
The 4 footer is too small for good C reception and a 6 foot or larger is usually recommended.
But my subdivision bans larger dishes.

And I thought my 80 cm dish was big

Still bigger than our standard 60 cm.

And you would get more help if you answered the questions raised.

I checked these two. Both operate on the Ku Band so that info is essential for picking a LNB

Badr (Arabsat 26E) appears to be picked up in North Africa with a 55 cm dish.

You do have a motorised dish ? If you have a fixed one pointing at some mid point it is understandable why you can not pick these up strongly.

Another issue is if you do not have a clear line of sight to the satellites. Any tall building or other obstruction in the way will degrade the signal. No dish or LNB can help you there.

I can not check Nilesat (7 W) as the footprint is beyond the UK.

Arabsat works fine here with a 80-90 cm dish.

 Note: I previously had a 'senior' moment and checked 7 E rather than 7 W. My bad.Last edited by DB83; 14th Oct 2015 at 18:49.

55cm dish in north africa i doubt it (i'd say 80cm minimum)

You can check on kingofsat which dish size you need for Badr (26°East): http://fr.kingofsat.net/beams.php?s=95&b=135*** DIGITIZING VHS / ANALOG VIDEOS SINCE 2001**** GEAR: JVC HR-S7700MS, TOSHIBA V733EF AND MORE

	My source data:

Just click the location for balloon data.

Ok. I only checked for Tunisia. Other parts of N.Africa such as Egypt have different requirements.
