I am just getting used to using VideoReDo. When editing a series of MPEG clips, can somebody tell me how I join all the clips together so they do not stop at the end of each scene before the next scene starts. In other words, so that one scene runs into the other seamlessly thus making one long MPEG or movie length?

I have noticed that on the VideoReDo menu, there is a "Joiner" tab. Does this have something to do with how to join all the clips together? If so, how do I implement this in the editing process?

If I am in the wrong forum for asking this question, can somebody direct me to the right forum to ask it please?

    Thanks

  2. Yes, you need to add each segment to a joiner list.

Yes, the joiner list is used to create a single .mpg file from a series of clips. VideoReDo has an excellent Help file which explains the use of the Joiner function better than I could do. Just look for "Joiner List" under Help > Contents > Index.

In the future, you would be better off starting a new topic rather than adding to a long dead thread. Grave-robbing and thread hijacking are not viewed favorably in this forum.

Heathsideboy - In the future just make a new post rather than digging up an ancient thread to add questions to it. I know that some forums actually encourage that kind of behavior, but here we'd prefer that you just leave the old threads alone and make a new one.

I use VideoReDo regularly and I want to warn you that while the Joiner function works perfectly well, there are some bugs related to it that don't seem to be completely fixed yet. Specifically there is some risk involved in using the Edit Joiner List function to double check your work and be sure that you have added the correct videos. I've had VideoReDo completely crash on me when using Edit Joiner List and I regard this feature as potentially unsafe. You will lose all your edits if it crashes on you. It seems to crash less with some of the recent updates, but I'm not sure that this particular function is completely safe yet.

I've never had issue with the joiner list. However, I always save a project for each video before adding it to a joiner list.

How do I make a new thread as opposed to "Reply to Thread?" Is there a dedicated forum just for VideoReDo software? If there is, could somebody direct me to it. I find these forums extremely confusing and hard to find. Must be me I suppose.

The files are mainly MPEG that I converted from MP4 from my video camera. I also have some VOB files that I also converted to MPEG so hopefully these all should be compatible when joining together.

Thanks for the warning. Do you think I would be safer using something like "vobmerge" or "VirtualDub" first to join the clips together instead of VideoReDo?

Can somebody also give me step-by-step instructions on how to put all the separate clips into VideoReDo and have them join together as one.

    Thanks

Open a previously saved clip and click "Add Selection", then click "Joiner" followed by "Add Current Project to Joiner List". Repeat for each clip to be joined. If you can't join some clips, read the Joiner List section in the Help file to figure out why some clips may be incompatible.

Oh snap. There is an easier way that I forgot about in the help file:
Adding multiple files to joiner in one step: You can add multiple MPEG files or VideoReDo projects into the joiner by dragging multiple files from the windows file explorer into the VideoReDo main window. Start by opening both VideoReDo and a copy of the Windows File Explorer. In the Windows Explorer select multiple filenames using a combination of the shift and control key. Then in one step, drag all the selected files into the VideoReDo window. The files will be sorted by name and added to the joiner list.

Thank you so much for that. I shall give it a go and see how I get on.

Just avoid the Edit Joiner List function which you do not have to access anyway. Or use it and accept the risk that if it crashes, you must start all over. You don't need to use VirtualDub, etc. My message was meant to warn you about something that MIGHT (or might not) happen because if it does, you're not going to like it. It was never intended to get you into some kind of panic state where you questioned even using VideoReDo at all.

To put it another way, you do not have to access Edit Joiner List - ever - when using the joiner function.
