Jaksta has been a star for me today, downloading the stream from the following site practically faultlessly so that I captured the resident osprey returning from wintering ground 3000 miles away, THANK YOU JAKSTA.
http://dyfiospreyproject.com/stream
BUT! It's playing 4:3 instead of 16:9 and I cannot find anything in the settings (none of which I understand) to change it. My freebie editor FREEMAKE cannot seem to change it, VLC can, or course. I have to add "yt: stretch=16:9" (had to put a space between : and s, otherwise it turns into a smiley) to the tag box in YouTube, but would like Jaksta to give me the correct aspect ratio in the first place.
I tried Virtual Dub but it cannot even open the file:

Scuse me for not understanding, but is there anything in your reply that tells me how to "demand" 16:9 instead? Or can't it be done?

That's a comfort, Bat
Just thinking - I can get in touch with the bods in charge of the cam/stream - if I sent them a screenshot of your "stats" above, might that alert them to a problem with their settings that could be solved? They've spent ££,£££ on the equipment, cabling has been laid under miles of marshland - if it is their "fault" that the stream is wrong I am sure they would want to put it right. -

Yet the website is displaying widescreen
Are they using 800x600 for the stream for bandwidth economy reasons, perhaps?
Oh well, mustn't lose any sleep over it, but I would if YouTube didn't provide the code to rectify it post-upload.
Thanks for responding, Bat -
Hi
Maybe the video on the Dyfi website has been stretched - using same method as YouTube (yt: stretch=16:9).
Yes, that could be the reason.
I'm pretty sure that the 800x600 stream is the only one available from that website.
(You can see your own "stats" using MediaInfo program).Last edited by bat999; 7th Apr 2013 at 21:40.
