how do I fix avi movie and remove subs ?

I had 2 avi files (part 1 and 2) of a movie and 2 srt files for each part.
both parts were joined in quicktime 7 but with first half of subs on (from when they were both same name)
now the full movie has only half subs but when i got the full srt subs and opened the movie with them nothing has changed, its still half subbed. is it because i joined 2 avi files while one was srt subbed that the new full
subs don't open with it?

please can someone help and hope this makes sense

How did you join the srt sub? You must use something like subtitle edit to set the timing correct.

I named the srt file same as the avi file, its not the timing it's only half subbed even though i got a full movie srt file it isn't working
