  1. ..is there a simple tool that can do it for me?

or do I have to use several to demux, encode, remux..etc..? if so is there issues with timing/oos when doing so..

I use MKV Audio Converter - wondered if there was anything like that for XVID..?

    thanks

You could try Avidemux or virtualdub. Under the video choose copy or direct stream copy in virtualdub. And under audio choose a codec. Save as new video.

  3. thanks Baldrick

Avidemux throws an error saying :

Cannot setup audio encoder, make sure your stream is compatible with audio encoder (bitrate, channels, format)

its 6 channel AC3 I need changed to 2 channels AC3 or 2 channel MP3 because the portable TV in bedroom only plays Xvid+mp3 or Xvid+ac3 (2channel)

    thanks for your help

EDIT: have managed to re-encode the AC3 to 2 channel, will report back if successfull in playback

in avidemux you need to add audio filters to down sample and to convert 6 channel to stereo

    when converting AC3 (6ch) to MP3 (2ch) yes?

    thanks

I also need to add black bars too the 720x304 video so that the 16:9 TV keeps the AR - the TV stretches the AR to FULL (fit entire screen, cant be disabled) so I need to add letter-boxing to compensate - what would be the top and bottom width's to make the 21:9 720x304 into 16:9 720x. . . ?

    thanks

    edit : 720 xx 384 - I remembered it lol...cheers
