  1. I downloaded the movie John Q and when I went to watch it this evening I immediately noticed no audio. I thought that was weird since the file itself was around 700mb in file size. I proceeded to then open the file in VirtualDub to check that maybe it had an audioformat that BSPlayer didn't recognize. Upon opening the file information this is what I saw:

    Audio Stream:
    Sampling Rate ---- 48000Hz
    Channels ---------- 2 (Sterio)
    Sample Precision - 0-bit
    Compression ------ Unknown (tag 2000)

Does anyone know if this is a fixable issue? I scanned the avi file for junk frames and that appearantly didn't do anything worthwhile so I am open to suggestions and help of all sorts.

  2. John Q has AC3 sound attached so you need to have an AC3 plugin to play it. I use powerdivx to play this divx movie and any others that have AC3 sound. Powerdivx is a free download on the internet so give it a try. You also may need to install an AC3 codec/plug-in before you hear any sound. I Hope this works. If it does not then you could always demultiplex the AC3 sound from the video, convert the AC3 audio to another format like WAV, and then remultiplex with the video using something like tmpgenc and an audio conversion program. With any luck this should allow you to enjoy a great movie well worth the effort.

  3. Thanks for that information, I really appreciate it. I'll give that a try tomorrow and hopefully that will fix it. I do agree from clips I've seen that John Q is a movie that didn't get enough rave reviews from the theater. I seem to rank it along side movies like The Score, and quite a other few top quality films.

Just out of curiosity, what codec do you use for the AC3 support?
