Hi guys
I'm having a problem with connecting my laptop to tv. I have a VGA cable, and a RCA cable. I have plugged a VGA cable from my laptop into my tv which is fine and transmits a video/image unfortunately, when I tried putting a RCA cable from my laptop in to my tv, there was no sound coming out from the tv. (RCA cable is plug to my laptop headphones) I tried going (Start/Control Panel /Sound). Looking at the devices there's only a speaker and microphone that were enabled. Tried looking at Tv options about laptop connectivity or what so ever though I only find PC setup which says "Access". My tv is Panasonic Viera model number is: TH-42PV8H. Please help me
My specs are:
Windows Vista Home premium
Intel pentium, Dual core processor T3400

1: Is this the first time you tried connecting to the tv's audio inputs ?

2: Connect any other device with suitable audio output to tv and confirm if audio is available ... if not look at cable or tv being at fault.

3: If audio is heard via headphones from laptop then suspect problem at 2

I am skeptical that this will ever work even if connected correctly, and it may be connected correctly right now. Headphone outputs are usually (I'm not saying "always" here because of the 1 in 1000 possible exception) not powerful enough to feed audio into audio inputs on other devices.

Just to be sure, you're using a cable like this to connect the computer to the TV?

It may be as simple as making sure you're using the right connections. Your manual states:

PC Input Mini D-sub 15-pin x 1 (rear) (Audio input for PC: co-use with AV2 audio input)

Check that out. For the VGA input, make sure you're using the AV2 audio RCA jacks. Might be something you have to define in a menu as well. That is, associate the VGA input with AV2 and enable it.Have a good one,

	1. Yes it is my first time trying to connect to laptop to tv audio inputs but no if its connecting dvd players, speakers and etc

 2. If by any devices would a speaker count?

 3. Audio is heard from headphones from laptop

In other words, does that mean I should get a new laptop?

Headphone outputs are usually at higher than "line" level, and are designed to provide more power. The typical headphone output has no problems driving a line level input. In fact, they're usually too loud and may need attenuation to prevent distortion.

I am using a cable that it's exactly like that though its a different brand, is that alright? The details of the box (where the cable came from) says
