All I'm trying to do is edit out about 30 seconds at the start of a five or six minute .mpg file.

It just about gets to the end of the first pass, and it crashes. I've tried a half dozen times, and it keeps happening.

I'm using an "I" frame, not a "P", and that's always seemed to work fine.

    Suggestions? Ideas? Alternatives?

I cannot even run a video.

    I open the program.

    I've tried both "Video" H.263 and Mpeg4

    Format is "AVI"

Click to open a short video.

    Get the message
    "H.264 detected",
If the file is using B frames as reference . . . "

I've tried selecting both 'yes' and 'no' when it asks if I want it to use another mode. The result is always the same and it crashes.

What could this be? Thanks for any help you can give!!
