  1. Avidemux can do a great many things.

The problem is that I want to do very basic stuff and can't find how to do it.

    I need to:

    1. join hundreds of jpgs together

    2. Alter the duration of each jpg on the timeline. (or equivelant way to change the duration) I don't see a timeline but I'm sure avidemux has a way to alter the duration.

    3. Add subtitles and place them WHERE I WANT

    4. import these jpgs into different groups (like subdirectories)

This is a sample of one of my movies. I made it in mov moviemaker. However my movies are getting to big for it

Not really the program to do all of this.

Try DVD Slideshow GUI and a conversion progam such as autoGK if you need to make an avi from that.

  3. DVD Slideshow GUI looks great! thank you.

One thing - is doesn't support bmp. Do you know of a program that will do a mass conversion (100 files) from bmp to jpg?

  4. VirtualDub can import a numbered series of jpeg, bmp, or png, or tga files. You can set the overall frame rate with Video -> Frame Rate... You can use the Copy/Paste function to duplicate particular frames (ie extend the duration of a frame). You can import SRT subtitles and hard code them into the output file.

Mot really a question for a video forum but.....

The only program that I know that does batch processsing of image files is Photoshop. I am sure that there are others.

Even if you have only a hundred or so there is no so much time involved in doing them manually through Windows Paint. Or better still, create them in another supported format in the first place.

    Irfanview
    -- File/Thumbnails
    -- Select all,
    -- File/ Start Batch Dialog
-- choose your options and "Start"
