    Hello to all of you!

I need to reauthor Avatar Extended Collectors Edition PAL version because it is not avaialble in my country with adequate subtitles. Hence I bought it and would like to add subtitles. This special edition contains Theatrical, Re-release, and Collectors edition version of the movies plus Extras, all 3 discs in total. All 3 movies are splitted on DVD1 and DVD2 and DVD3 is extras only. This means you have half movie on DVD1 and another half on DVD2 (for all versions).

(I though) I'm experienced and didn't expect to have any problems. Unfortunately I was very surprised when it turned out that DVD1 has 3 movies in the IFO file and after I demuxed all 3 I had... 13GB files! I started reading all around and it seems that actually it is only 1 movie with some special commands (gprm) which detemine whether you watch or not the adiitional scenes which makes the difference between all 3 versions.

Can anyone tell me how to demux video/audio/sub files and to add additional subtitles in this case? Normally I use DVDLab Pro to create the new sub stream and them IFO Edit method to author new DVD keeping existing subtitles.

    Thank you in advance!

  2. Don't use DVD Decrypter. Try with DVDFab HD Decrypter. Afterwards you may have to run the results through FixVTS.

  4. There are three versions you say, right? I'd guess you want the longest or Collector's Edition (1:33:40), so I'd pick that one. Pick the audio and subs you want and let 'er rip. I'd also get the latest version of DVDFab HD Decrypter, if I were you (8.1.5.9, January 20, 2012).

If you have trouble picking the audio you want, play the DVD and choose among the different tracks to figure out what each is. I doubt they're all English and most likely only the first one is in English.

No, I don't want only one version, I want to make the same DVD as the original, including my subtitle stream. This is my problem - demuxed 3 versions are 13GB and it is impossible to fit the back in one DVD9, right? Maybe I should try to make DVD and see what will happen...

As I wrote in my first post, I expect it is all mater of GPRM commands which causes the player to skip definite scenes. On the contrary, I managed to rip in AVI all 3 movies and to adjust the subtitles with them. Help!

P.S. All languages are English - 5.1, 2.0 and one without dirty language

Then forget about ever getting your subtitles in there.

And if you want all three different versions of the entire movie, menus, and everything else, you should be doing 'Full Disc' and not 'Main Movie'.

What you want to do requires a FULL re-author in a trational authoring app - more specifically, a professional one that allows you to (manually) re-create those cell-skipping changes. (BTW, those aren't necessarily "custom" GPRM codes, they are built into the spec in a similar way to the way Playlists, Parental Control & Multi-angle is built in).
If you don't already have and use an app such as that, don't bother trying to get one now: I have a feeling it would be "out of your league" for the present...

I'd suggest you just author a couple of custom DVDs that have ONLY the title you want with the sub you want.

    Dear Scott,

Thank you for your reply. Just because I made registration yesterday it doesn't mean I'm completely newbie in DVD re-authoring. For this reason I'll be more than grateful if you share the name of this "proffesional" app and I'll see what can be done with it.

    Thank you!

Yes, in addition to Scenarist, there would be Spruce DVDMaestro (old), Apple DVDStudioPro (at least the older versions could), probably DVDLabPro. And to a lesser extent (fewer capabilities): Adobe Encore and Sony DVDArchitect, maybe Pinnacle ?something?.

    Scott

edit: and if NetBlender can do DVDs (as well as it is known to do BD), then it probably could be added to the A-list.
