    i want to encode an anime episode, the source is mkv, what you think is a best settings from the following:

    settings 1:

    program --level 4.1 --pass 2 --bitrate 1000 --stats ".stats" --deblock 1:1 --b-adapt 2 --no-weightb --ref 4 --qpmin 10 --qpmax 51 --vbv-bufsize 50000 --vbv-maxrate 50000 --aq-mode 0 --me umh --direct auto --subme 6 --psy-rd 0.6:0 --output "output" "input"

    settings 2:

    More details are needed. What is the source (codec etc)? It is interlaced or progressive? Encode samples and see what looks best. Are you encoding using x264?

    Sorry I don't have any experience with x264. Why are you reencoding? Is it for a specific device? Otherwise I don't understand why you would bother?
