Hi so I would like some help with this anime that I want to encode/put into a mkv container so that I can sub it. Here's the link to the video.
I want to turn the mp4 to an mkv. I tried muxing the video using GDSmux and it works but there's this laginess to it like it when it changes to another scene it repeats the previous frame. I also tried muxing the mp4 with megui into a mkv container, but the beginning of the video pauses for a few seconds then it runs smoothly. I really don't know why since I don't really know much about this whole interlace or decimating stuff. I tried reading most of it, but I can't seem to apply it to the video. And honestly I am lost.
I don't think the video needs heavy filtering since the quality is decent, but then again I know nothing about video and what should be decent quality.
I also demuxed the video with Yamb and then used DGAVCindex, but where it says Frame Type it doesn't show anything, it just says not yet. I tried this so that I could encode the video in megui but I am not sure about fps, and about telecine, interlace or progressive video and if I really need to add filters to the video.
All I want is a mkv video with the same or better quality as the mp4 that doesn't lag, or freezes. I don't want a conversion of it or I would of tried using any program that converts mp4 to mkv. I already downloaded Avisynth and some filters. Can anyone show me a good script to get me started. If possible I want to use megui if I need to encode the video in the end.

Have you tried extracting the streams from the MKV using mkvtoolnix combined with MKVExtractGUI2, or MKVCleaver, and then remuxing them into an MP4 container using MP4Box? (I know, not all codecs are compatible with the MP4 container...)
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
I want to turn the mp4 to a mkv, not the other way around. And If I don't have to encode it that would be nice. Can anyone help me?

Use MP4Box (with a GUI like MyMP4BoxGUI, if you prefer) to demux the streams from the MP4, then use MKVMerge (from mkvtoolnix) to mux them into an MKV. (You may want to make sure the header compression options on the audio stream(s) are set to off, if you're using an mkvtoolnix version higher than 4.0.0, though.)
(Why in the world did I read the OP as MKV > MP4? Weird.)If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
