Paint.net and Photoshop 7.
Paint.NET because it's free and feature rich when you add the powerful free plugins for it. Photoshop7 because that's the best version in my opinion, powerful yet not over-bloated with useless features.Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Paint Shop Pro 8. I have been using it for about 9 years now. How time flies...

Photoshop on a daily basis.
Also, this isn't really a paint program, though it has some minor abilities, I use Irfanview almost daily as well for quick scanning, spec or two retouching or color balancing and resizing. I find it to be equally as invaluable.

For mere browsing: IrfanView
For quick-n-dirty edits: MS Paint =^.^=
For serious jobs: Paint Shop Pro 7.04 ++ a handful of Photoshop plugins -
Irfanview handles most of what I need to do with images. I use Paint on occasion. I've downloaded GIMP but can't say I've ever used it. I've loaded it up a few times to try to figure out how to use it but nothing about it seems intuitive to me, so I put it off for when I have more time to play with it. Which never seems to happen...

I use Windows Paint here mostly and Photoshop for photos or frame video work.

Primarily use Paint.Net but artweaver is nice as an 'external editor' with irfanview for my portable app needs

It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly -
GIMP - the best image editor for tux users, as good as or better than any pro s/w in win OS.
it has windows version too. Those who just wanna learn something new than Adobe PhotoShop, should give GIMP-WIN a try! -
GIMP, here. It's the best freeware editor I've found to date (although I do sometimes use Irfanview for lightweight editing.
