  1. Hello,

I am new here so please be nice to me

I use NextPVR to record TV channels which are saved as .ts files. And because I stream to xbox360, I need to convert them as Vista + Xbox360 does not support streaming .ts files.

I first ProjectX the .ts files which creates 2 new files called, video.m2v and video.mp2, and then I run ImagoMPEG-Muxer, and the end result is a MPG file that streams perfectly to my Xbox 360 and is in sync and looks and sounds perfect.

However, there are 2 HD TV channels which when run through ProjectX creates different files called video.m2v and video.AC3. So instead of the audio being .mp2, on those 2 HD channels the audio file ends in .AC3 instead.

And when I run those files through ImagoMPEG-Muxer, the newly created MPG file has been truncuated into a 6MB file which only runs for 5-6 seconds.

    So here are my questions:

    1. Why does ImagoMPEG-Muxer work perfectly with all the other TV channels and the files video.m2v and video.mp2...but not when the HD TV channel recordings video.m2v and video.AC3? Can ImagoMPEG-Muxer only handle .mp2 files and not .AC3 files?

    2. Is there a solution? Can I merge the video.m2v and video.AC3 into a proper working MPG file?

Thanks guys, appreciate any help and advice offered.

    Love, Lisa.

Convert directly to a mpg with hdtvtompeg2. Or stream the ts with the ps3 media server to your xbox.

I tried PS3 media server, awhile back, got it working, and the videos streamed to Xbox 360, however, the words are out of sync when streaming onto my TV, and I am unable to fast forward so I removed Ps3 media server.

I tried hdtvtompeg2 and imported the .ts file into it, and the end MPG is unplayable and only runs really quick for 2-3 seconds and displays only a black screen.

    Any other suggestions?

  5. If DVD compliant, first make a DVD using Muxman. If you really need the MPG out of that, use VOB2MPG on the VOB(s). This assumes there's nothing wrong with either the M2V or the AC3 files.

If out of synch, fix it before muxing using DelayCut.

When I run Muxman and load the M2v and AC3 files, and press "Start", I get an error message, "There are errors in this script"

It's probably not DVD compliant then. Maybe you don't intend it to be. You can go to the root of the C drive and find the Muxman log which may give you more information about the problem.

  8. ImagoMPEG-Muxer and ProjectX do not work with HD streams therefore you may get only a part of the file (m2v) out of ProjectX which is of course not in an mpeg2 format.

I don't know if xbox plays HD wrapped in .m2ts or .mkv container. If so, then you can use gdsmux to create an .mkv file directly from .ts, or use tsMuxer to make .m2ts, AVCHD or BR.

As stated, I just want to mix the AC3 and M2V file into a working MPG file.

Yeah I worked that out. ImagoMPEG-Muxer do not work with HD streams. The end result MPG is always around 5 seconds long only.

And NO, xbox 360 won't stream HD wrapped in .m2ts or .mkv container.

Anyone else have a method which will work?

That process takes too long to go from ts > mkv > mp4, over 1 hour for a movie file. And in addition, the end MP4 is out of sync!

I prefer to go direct from ts to MPEG as it only takes a few minutes.

As my first post indicates, it works perfect using ProjectX and ImagoMPEG-Muxer for non HD channels, but don't work with HD TV recorded channels.

Anyone else offer any advice please? How can I convert HD .ts to .MPEG?

May I suggest one of the following:

1 - SUPER, select mpg as output format.

2 - Avidemux version 6, selct mpeg2 as output format

3 - Audacity, run your audio.ac3 and export it as mp2 then use your original program to mux them

3 - Audacity, run your audio.ac3 and export it as mp2 then use your original program to mux them
    1. SUPER takes too long and it's unstable and keeps freezing up my screen, and the output is out of sync.

    2. Avidemux outputs an OUT OF SYNC MPG file. By the way, what you mean by version 6? I only have
    AviDemux 2.5.4. (r6854)

    3. Audacity didn't work. When I try to import the audio.ac3 into Audacity, it gives this error, "the audio.ac3 is a Dolby Digital audio file. Audacity cannot currently open this type of file. You need to convert it to WAV or AIFF first"

So I used a program called "AC3tool which converted the AC3 into WAV, and I then imported the WAV into Audacity and saved as .mp2. I then ran ImagoMPEG-Muxer, but it truncates the whole video MPG output to only around 1 minute.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Go to Avidemux Forum (http://www.avidemux.org/smf/)

Click on [Experimental 6; very experimental]

Click on [2.6 Very Experimental branch, download etc]

    Click on (http://www.avidemux.org/nightly/)

For windows 32 select [win32/] then download avidemux_r7194_win32.7z

Another possibility is to check Vista xbox 360 for other supported containers such as divx or mp4 and if they are supported then you could simply convert ts files into any of them and there will be no need to use the long and complicated mpeg pathway.

I have tried that and it didn't work at all. I tried many different programs, e.g XviD4PSP, SUPER, StaxRip, TSMuxer, MeGUI, AVStoDVD , VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, HDConvertToX, AVIDemux, etc .. and all the MP4 outputs TOOK AGES to create and played OUT OF SYNC when streaming to the Xbox 360.

The only method I have found that works really well and plays the MPG files IN SYNC when streaming to the Xbox 360 is ProjectX and ImagoMPEG-Muxer. But unfortunately, ImagoMPEG-Muxer cannot handle the HD TV channels that I record. Works great with all the other TV channels but not HD, so hence, I am looking for a method to work with the HD TV .ts files into MPG that streams IN SYNC.

And I downloaded and extracted avidemux_r7194_win32.7z, and I think the HD ts file import and export to MPEG TS Muxer (ff) is working. Will do more tests and will stream to Xbox 360 later and test if it's in SYNC. But I am not sure MPEG TS Muxer (ff) saved MPG will work streaming to Xbox 360, I think it only supports MPEG-PS Muxer (ff), but when I try to save the file as MPEG-PS Muxer (ff), I get this error, "MISMATCH Bad width/height for DVD"

    Will give feedback later.

Is it possible for you to upload a 10 seconds samples of the problematic ts file and its video.m2v and video.AC3 files into MediaFire so we could have a look?

avidemux_r7194_win32.7z seemed to work fine at beginning of video, but as the video plays on, the frame rate drops and it goes out of sync.

    What id MediaFire?

    Howdy,

I struggled for weeks to find a way to reliably cut commercials from a HD .ts & save the result in .mpg or .ts ready to transcode to .mkv.

VideoReDo works a treat ! I know... it's not a free solution but it's worth it in the long run.

    Regards,

    Phil.

No thanks, not interested in having to sign up.

You don't have to sign up. Just drag and drop your file onto the green panel on the left side of the screen, wait for the upload to complete, hover with your mouse over your file and click on [share] to copy the link. we do need this link to download your file.

And if you are interested in saving your video channels by using a different program you can try Freecorder 4 from (http://www.applian.com/freecorder4/). It is free and will download and save your videos as FLV and then it can convert them straight away into mpeg2, mp4 or wmv. I have used it for years

So was I, but after weeks (and I do mean weeks) of searching & trying every free application under the sun I couldn't find a workable solution for me.

Have you looked at Freemake Video Converter ? It will open .ts & may give you a workable .mpg file.

    Regards,

    Phil.

Freemake Video Converter don't work well at all, out of sync results.

If Freemake Video Converter worked well with HD recordings, then why did you buy VideRedo???

I have been looking for a FREE alternative for weeks too, but nothing works. Even tried the experimental version of Avidemux, but that also failed to work properly.

I don't think VideoRedo can produce a FULLY WORKING in SYNC mpg file either, can it?

And which VideoRedo did you buy? The TVSuite or VideoRedo Plus?

Yes it can. It's one of the best video cutter available. Of course your capture has to be error free. It also has build in "stream repair" engine for .ts files.

Video ReDo works perfectly for editing .ts then saving or transcoding. Freemake does a great job of transcoding (fast, too), but crashes whenever I try to edit a .ts.

    I use VideoReDo TVSuiteV4 w/H.264

If you have tried lots of different tools & you still experience out-of-sync issues, maybe there is an issue with the source .ts files you are getting from NextPVR. Can you change the save-to format ? Maybe try another TV recording software, like TV Scheduler Pro, to see if it makes a difference.
