Connecting PC To HDTV Newb Question

Hello everyone , Im doing that first time , I'v got an Galaxy GeForce 210 512MB Graphic Card and im trying to connect it to the HDTV , the TV isnt new and it doesnt got HDMI connection . It got only S-video and other besides HDMI.

Graphic card does have VGA , DVI and HDMI out.

Im not sure where to start i would like to make the connection the cheapest way but with no loss of the quality .

Your graphics card has HDMI, DVI and VGA. If your TV doesn't have any of those as inputs you are probably out of luck. The DVI port might be able to output component video with an adapter cable.

Others i mean it got Composite , but there is no VGA in the TV .

The Galaxy GeForce 210 512MB lacks any analog outputs other than VGA.

You have two options.

1. Buy a VGA to S-Video converter. This is an electronics box not a cable.
2. Buy a second display device with S-Video out (PCI card or USB2 device).

None of theses options will work well for games.

PS: You also have the option of returning the card and buying one with the TV port out.

An HDTV without HDMI, DVI, VGA, or component inputs? How are you supposed to get a high definition signal to it?

The DVI port might be able to output component video with an adapter cable.

That is only possible with older version ATI 9550-9800 and some Xnnn cards.

NVidia never ran analog component over DVI-I. They used a circular TV port.

I dont know the tv resolution , i guess its high deff 1920x1080 , The TV got the analog component . (Green , Red, Blue) and it got S-Video .

The TV got good video quality but it lacks of the HDMI , DVI and VGA i dont know why is that.

If i could buy card like that with TV port out how could sound go to the tv ?
I thout that S-video transfer Video only without sound.
I want to use it only for normal use , no games most watching movies.

S-Video will be ~640x480 (not acceptable).

Either return the card or buy a second NVidia PCI card with analog component out.

The sound would be provided by the PC's green rear panel 3.5mm speaker jack or 3.5 mm headphone jack. You will need a male 3.5 mm headphone jack to male RCA stereo audio (red+white) adapter cable that would plug into the PC on one end and the TV on the other end. The adapter cable should only cost a few dollars.

For better audio the PC would need to have additional ports for surround-sound speakers, or SPDIF out, and you would need a home theater receiver with matching inputs. ...and the right cables.

Allright i decided to get different graphic card . I checked Newegg.com and i have couple options of different TV Out.

HDTV Out
HDTV / S-Video Out
HDTV / S-Video / Composite Out
S-Video Out
S-Video / Composite Out

Im not sure witch card would be the best in my situation .?
Money does not play any role in this case.

HDTV out isn't specific. You should look for component video output. The card should come with a breakout cable like edDV showed. If you aren't going to be playing the latest video games at high resolution you don't need an expensive graphics card. Decent cards start around US$60.

There don't seem to be many video cards left that have HDTV out with the component breakout cable included. I looked at a dozen at Newegg before I found one. It happens to be the same one jagabo found: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130395

More include just an S-Video cable, or nothing for that port, although the card is capable of component video output. The problem is that finding the right break-out cable as a separate piece can be difficult.

There is no component adapter cable in the package. but according to http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/93034/481697.aspx XFX may provide them on request for cards that can use them, following product registration. Before purchase, email XFX to check if they can still supply a free component adapter for the card you are interested in.
