  1. Hi was just wondering If anybody could help me with AVI videos. Was wonderring If you could put them straight onto a CD disc by using the 'SEND TO' disc drive option and would they play properly. Been wanting to put these files onto a CD disc for ages now. I have about 100 camera AVI videos and loads of AVI music videos. The music videos have been converted from flash Into AVI. Any help would be appreciated

    Cheers

Play properly on what? Your computer? Yes (usually). On a set-top DVD player? It depends on whether your player plays AVI files and what codecs it supports. Divx certified (or compatible) DVD players will play Divx/Xvid AVI as long as they were encoded with compatible settings. Otherwise you will have to convert to normal movie DVD (MPEG 2 with DVD compatible settings, authored).

I have had my dvd player for about 7 years I have only just started to want to do my discs this last month. So dont really know what kind of player It Is. I have got dvd creator on my PC and that will play AVI videos as a montage on dvd disc thats as far as I got. If that means anything to you. So now just looking to put them on Cd disc.

    Cheers

NOT that easy.....especially with a 7 year old DVD player. You have TONS of reading to do.

Then it's not likely to play Divx/Xvid AVI.

For basic archiving use imgburn to burn the original data file.

But as mentioned if you want to play it in a settop player you will most likely need to convert it to dvd first - or divx/xvid if it can in fact play those formats. Use anything like super, xvid4psp, format factory, avstodvd, or multiavchd to make dvds from them. (all freeware by the way, worth having each in your collection if you don't already, a veritable swiss army knife set for video conversion - if one can't do what you need the other most likely will).
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  7. Of course, if your 100 video files are Divx/Xvid AVI with MP2, MP3, or AC3 audio, it's much easier to buy a new DVD player that will play them as they are. Get one with a USB port and you can put them on an external hard drive or flash thumb drive. For example, you can get a Philips 5990 for about US$60. Or get something like the Western Digital WDTV Live media player which can play pretty much everything from an external drive or via your home network.
