  1. I have a bunch of VHS videos I would like to put onto DVDRs. I have just purchased a new high end computer, but I am undecided on what kind of Capture Card, hardware, and such??

I realize a number of people who will read this will say 'well just check over the site and figure out for yourself,' but after checking out the site I'm still unsure. If there are others out there who turn there VHS tapes into high quality DVDs, what type of setup do you have??

I saw there's some 'DAZZLE' kit that has the card and plug ins and all that good stuff, but the reviews from 'circuit city.com' are not ver favorable. Should I just buy this thing, or is there a better kit out there?? I'd pay more gladly if there was something out there that would hook me up for what i need.

Any generic tv/capture card based on the bt878 chipset will be good. They work well with the new wdm drivers and all versions of windows.
You can do software mpeg1/mpeg2 DVD capture with those drivers and the right app.
You don't need a hardware compressor with a good cpu. The price is right too.

Mine is an older model made by avermedia and it still cuts it.
