Im having a problem with captured video, when I'm editing the video I'm finding the audio is out of synch but only on the last few minutes of the capture. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Yes, if I'm not capturing MJPEG via component. any uncompressed format does that. Also capturing vie HDMI at 720p. Can't get 1080i or p to work at all via HDMI port with the shuttle. MJPEG via component is luckly what i bought it for, capturing straight from my HDV camera imager. At least that works. By the way, mine gets out of sync within a few seconds. Danny Hays

Never mind. What I said about MediaExpress and Quicktime is incorrect.
It's using "QT" libraries which is a UI framework, not Quicktime related.Last edited by Signal; 12th Sep 2010 at 21:26.

Hey guys, I just spent like 2-3 hours getting my Shuttle to work and I FINALLY got video. The only problem is that I can't get audio to preview on my computer.
I'm using a screen capture driver to capture video from the Media Express because it uses A LOT less resources than directly capturing using FME. That being said, is there anyway that I can hear the audio from the game console on my computer? I can hear the audio and capture video/audio using VirtualDub but the capture is kind of laggy, and the audio pops. Maybe I don't have the settings set right, but I'd rather just get something that can capture audio from the Decklink Audio Capture.
*edit* - So in a cruel twist of irony, I can't seem to get video to show up on my stream when I use VirtualDub. I can view it in the VD window fine, but it comes up as a black screen on the live stream. And of course the card won't let me capture audio from VD and video from Media Express at the same time.Last edited by KoopahTroopah; 14th Sep 2010 at 17:07.

I figured I would bump this cause I fixed my first problem by using Sony Vegas 9. However, my sound pops. I noticed that on the audio channels in Media Express the audio bars look like they're going in the red and off the chart. Which makes me think that the card itself is capturing the audio too loudly. That's my opinion. Someone mentioned how sound isn't previewed in Media Express, being able to preview and control the volume of the sound in Media Express would solve all of my problems. *future request*

Well funny enough new 7.9.2 drivers just came out with the "What's new" being "Intensity Shuttle audio fix".
Firmware update included.
Missing 480p
Missing x3 1080p profiles from capture driverLast edited by Signal; 15th Sep 2010 at 23:49.

Which DLLs? I tried adding all of em but I have no idea what to do.
Well funny enough new 7.9.2 drivers just came out with the "What's new" being "Intensity Shuttle audio fix".
Well . . .look at that.
Edit - So I updated to 7.9.2 without uninstalling/reinstalling, and although the sound is a lot better, I'm still hearing a couple pops every now and then. Also I can't seem to get MPC to show video, audio comes through just fine though. Whenever I change the video filter for "Decklink Video Capture" it just goes right back to NTSC, and I have my xbox set to 1080i. =/.Last edited by KoopahTroopah; 16th Sep 2010 at 01:11. Reason: Just tried getting MPC to work
-
Got to Options on MPC, go to external filters and click on add filter.
Browse to files decklink.dll and decklink64.dll, and open them
Next, go to capture and set the capture to Decklink Video Capture, then exit.
Under files=>open device and you should be getting the video/audio feed in MPC.
If you don't get anything, fiddle with the controls under View=> capture and you should be fine.
If anyone's wondering how I fixed my shuttle, it seems to be a faulty one and I sent back my shuttle and I received a new one now.Last edited by nut123456789; 16th Sep 2010 at 01:19.

Hy Everyone!
Unfortunately I was not able to get my Intensity Shuttle work - greyed out Blackmagic Control Panel problem - . Here's the method I used during installation :
1 - Installed USB 3.0 ports into my PC - NEC uPD720200 chipset
2 - Installed the latest driver and firmware for it, then reboot
3 - Ran the latest BM Desktop Video installer successfully, then reboot
4 - Plugged in the Shuttle, waited for something to happen and intentionally NOT launched any applications, so rebooted then
5 - During reboot the Shuttle was plugged in and the .exe at startup responsible for it offered the firmware update I was waiting for
6 - It said it's ready to use but whenever I wanted to use it the BM Control Panel was always greyed out and I couldn't use the Media Express - was installed after the whole procedure - as well
I read about the 'decklink' dlls and used the regsvr commands to solve the MSN & Skype problem, but of course they couldn't help in my case because they do not interfere.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance,
K1CS1K -
I installed Media Express before I plugged in the Shuttle. Make sure your Renasas Elctronics USB 3.0 Controller drivers are, 2.0.4.0 and firmware is 3025, Install Media Express after you install BM Desktop Video installer, reboot and then plug in the Shuttle. If Media Express doesn't see the Shuttle, there's a problem.
Let us know how you do, Danny Hays -

Hy Danny!
First of all, thank you for your quick reply!
I did exactly in the order as you wrote by myself as well, tried with the latest driver and firmware and the correct one as mentioned in the BM guide - driver 2.0.4.0 with firmware 3025 - too, but nothing changed.
My motherboard does not have x58 or P55 chipsets on it, I find this requirement the closest possible reason in my case why I cannot get it work. Anyway, I checked the Shuttle on both 32/64-bit Windows Seven Ultimates.
There's one thing I read but did not understand, probably because haven't met the mentioned problem yet :
"In Win7, driver install with the Shuttle USB plugged in still does not handle Windows device installation process.
This leads to several failures being reported requiring up to 3 more reboots to resolve."
What does it exactly mean?
Bye,

Oh, BM is very specific on the required chipset. My guess is it won't work without it, based on tons of posts on it.

I had some problems with bandwith exceeded in my gigabyte H55N mini itx board when i installed intensity shuttle , after some time thinking why that was happening "since my board comes with the nec usb3.0 chip" , the problem that you all have with this "for those who have" is that you have surelly an graphic card in your pci express slot , and that card is consuming the resources of bandwith .
My luck is that i have an Clarkdale Intel processor witch comes with internal graphic card and i removed my ati card from the pci xpress 16x i was using .
Doing that will solve all those bandwith problems . -
Hello all. Been following closely your findings. Thanks everyone for such helpful posts. I plan to get the Intensity Shuttle soon and hopefully someone can answer the following questions.
In my setup I have an X38 chipset motherboard with a free PCIe x16 2.0 slot connected to the north bridge (the seccond one used for SLI video). If I buy the recommended ASUS U3S6 PCIe 4x USB 3.0 card and put it in the free slot will I get the full bandwidth and be able to use the Intensity Shuttle properly? While I'm tempted to build a new rig just to use the Intensity Shuttle I really don't want to go that far.
Assuming that I get the Intensity Shuttle to work properly (or build a rig), I would like to know the following:
Is the 480p issue fixed with the latest update (the one from a few days ago)? I want to be able to capture Wii games at 480p through component video.
It seems that I won't be able to capture Xbox 360 at 1080p due to the lack of 1080p60 support but will I have any problems if I just capture at 720p?
Is the PS3 a problem when using HDMI? Is HDCP enabled in games as well? Do I have to fall back to component video for PS3 capture?
Does the PS3 output 1080p at 30p or 60p and does it have HDCP? Will I be able to capture that?
Has anyone tested if 8 channel audio is captured properly? IE the Dolby Digital Output of the Xbox 360 and is able to reproduce it in a DD setup.
Has anyone tested if video lag is introduced in the TV when the console is connected to the Intensity Shuttle passing through the video signal to the TV . It wont be a problem if there is lag in the overlay of the monitoring/capture application but its important that there be no lag in the finial TV output.
Thanks all... -
I'll post what I had written about the Shuttle and chipsets in the BM Creative Cow forum:
P55 and X58 are currently the only officially supported chipsets for the Shuttle.
Typically on a P55 the USB 3.0 card must be installed in a PCIe graphics slot.
It comes down to this, the slot MUST support the full 5Gbs bandwidth. This is required regardless of it being a PCIe x1 card in a PCIe 2.0 slot or a PCIe x4 card in a PCIe 1.0 slot.
Some boards (including the X58 but less likely) can have slots not wired up to support the 5Gbs bandwidth.
X58 = 36 PCIe lanes wired directly to the X58 chip with a 25.6GB/s link to the processor
P55 = 16 PCIe lanes wired directly to the Processor
P45 = 16 PCIe lanes wired to the P45 chipset with a 10.6 GB/s link to the processor
All have a 2GB/s link to either an ICH10/10R chip (X58/P45) or to the P55 chipset itself where some slots and the majority of onboard devices can end up being wired to.
The graphics slots on the P45 have an extra hop to go through with a more limited bandwidth to the processor than the P55 and X58.
Theoretically it might work on a P45 but odds are against it when your machine is under full load. I also haven't seen anybody report success with it either.
There was talk of BM allowing a 2.5GB/s link by either limiting the selection of resolutions you can capture or even possibly saving bandwidth by not simultaneously outputting at the same time your capturing. Nothing has happened with this yet.
The slot (edit: or onboard device) MUST support the full 5Gbs bandwidth. This is required regardless of it being a PCIe x1 card in a PCIe 2.0 slot or a PCIe x4 card in a PCIe 1.0 slot. -
Can anyone confirm that its possible to capture 1080p from an xbox 360 with a HDMI cable I was told on purchasing the shuttle that capture from HDMI will not work for the xbox 360 so I have been using composite 720p.
-
You mean 720p using component right. I don't thinnk anyone has gotton 1080p via HDMI yet with the shuttle, but here's a youtube video where someone captured 1080 59.94 wich would be 1080i from a camcorder.. I heard the new xbox's have copy protection and can't be captured with HDMI, but if there's component out, you should be able to capture 1080 from that. I know the resolution and framerate from the source and the capture settings have to match to work. Try setting the xbox to 1080p and capture preferences in Media Express to the same. If video isn't showing up in the Media Express window, you won't be able to capture it. I would try all the xbox settings as well as the Media Express capture settings and see if you see video in the Express software window.

I have my shuttle connected to my xbox with component cables at 720p. I tried HDMI on the first day of release but could never get it to work. I'm happy with 720p for youtube videos but its just all the questions I'm getting and some negative comments about HDMI working with xbox 360 and I'm wrong about the 360 being HDCP enabled. The question is does HDMI in/out work with 360? Also is the 360 HDCP enabled? I believe it doesn't work just need some confirmation either way. -
First time post, LONG time lurker lol
But I got the Shuttle to work properly on my machine and have been uploading videos to Youtube from Xbox360. The question you were asking about if HDMI works with the 360, well the answer is Yes. I have been recording Xbox360 720p via my HDMI cables. However, 1080p does NOT work as far as for the Xbox360 because the 360's 1080 is at 60fps which the Shuttle doesn't do...yet. Hope this helps? -
-
I don't have an XBOX but I read the older ones work woith 720p via HDMI where the new ones have the HDVC, and don't. There's ALOT of people wanting to do just what your doing, so Make them happy by posting your XBOX and the SHuttle's capture settings. You will make alot of people's day. Danny Hays

By the way, if anyone has been able to capture 1080p30 via HDMI with the shuttle, plz point or post us to a link on how they did it. Thanx from us Shuttle users.

Danny - not sure why you don't read my posts.

1. HDCP
2. Being able to see your source on the Shuttle's HDMI output is no indication that you can capture it.
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/323104-Intensity-Shuttle-Problem?p=2013745&viewfull=1#post2013745
HDCP allows for unprotected non-HDCP content to pass through however there are devices that insist on having HDCP to be able to negotiate that first.
Without HDCP up front they refuse to display anything (again, even if the content does not need to be encrypted).
You will end up with a blank display in Media Express and on your Shuttle's HDMI output in these cases.
This is why I switched to using a PC or MAC to try and confirm the capture capabilities (no hdcp involved for a standard desktop display).
You mentionedThe only souce I have that'll play 1080p is a Roku 1010
All the time, particular format, or based on content you should look into if you haven't.
I believe you also mentioned at one point being able to see the output but not record it.
I mentioned a possibility there as well.
Hope this helps in your quest.Last edited by Signal; 1st Oct 2010 at 22:11.

Sorry Signal, I'm not a gamer and don't have an XBox or 360. I have a Brightsign server at work that I can render 1080p30 mpg or most any resolution and framerate mpg and put on it. It has an HDMI out and I can't get the Shuttle to see the video in Media Express via HDMI. The video I put on it is actually 1080p 29.97.
Can you post some pics of your Shuttle capture settings as well as your source settings for all the gamers that are trying to do what you are able to do? Just saying you can do it isn't helping those that can't. We will all be greatfull if you show us how. I do read your posts as "Signal" seems to be more knowledgable on the Intensity devices on this forum. I'm sure you can help alot of people on the Creativecow, Blackmagic forum as well with this same subject. Please don't take it personally as we're all after answers here, right? -
erm... I'm not a gamer in the sense I have an xbox or other console to mess with either.
I mentioned I'm using a standard PC and MAC to confirm the capture options via Media Express.
I have not been able to confirm 23.98 or 29.97 1080p
24,25 and 30fps 1080p work with Media Express.Last edited by Signal; 1st Oct 2010 at 23:41.

OK, there it is. Gamers, If your gaming consoles allow for display adapter frequency changing, You may get the HDMI 1080p capture to work, if I understand this correctly. Any Xbox or 360 owners that have captured 1080p via HDMI, How did you do it? I'll step out of this thread as My shuttle works fine capturing component 1080i from my HDV camera, which the reason I bought it. It seems most want to use the Shuttle to capture their games, so maybe this will help them. Danny HaysLast edited by Danny Hays; 2nd Oct 2010 at 02:44. Reason: Found newer post.
