Hi can anyone help with this problem? I have my pc in one corner of my study and hdtv in the other. I have been using my HDTV to play racing sims with my steering wheel in front of 32" hdtv and using 2 inter connected monitor leads from the 2nd vga out port on my gfx card, trailing accress the floor to connect it with no problem. To make things tidyer and more perminant I purchased a 9 meter monitor cable which goes around the skirting board to connect. With the 2 short leads the tv comes up as 32"HDTV and it works perfectly - I can swap it as main display and play Iracing on itbut when I use the new lead the tv comes up as 'generic non php monitor' and the only thing I can do with it is extend my desktop I can't swap main display to it
Is there any reason for this or is the cable just too long?
this is the cable i bought

Hmm, normally "premium" long VGA cables have double shielding.
Also, it could be this cable is missing pin 11, 12, 4, 15 (ID0, ID1, ID2, ID3) wires needed for monitor identification (older standard).
The newer standard E-DDC uses fewer pins.
