hihi, im kinda new to encoding so i wanna ask you guys about this..
i just finished encoding a video using x264vfw which then i throw it to mkvmerge to add subtitle
i realized that the while all my videos that i downloaded and not encode myself shows mpeg4/avc/iso..
this however shows x264..
anyways, whats going on?
and is mpeg4/avc/iso better than x264 because even those that i downloaded are labeled h.264 but all of them are
mpeg4/avc/iso...

The encoder can choose to write any codec ID it wants. Ultimately the video format is still the same - H.264/AVC. There's no need to worry about it, x264 is a good H.264 encoder.

Make sure you're using an up-to-date version of x26vfw, though, not one from 2006.
