With 0 answers in 24 hours I wonder if I posted the question in the proper forum...
 Did I?

 Thank you in advance.
 Best regards.

Hmmm...posting questions about improving an old video at forum.videoHELP.com, section VIDEO, subsection Restoration seemed like a good idea...but maybe is not.

 Best regards.

That looks like an exposure issue, it has flare/blooming. I don't think it can be fixed digitally. The transfer process would need to be done at higher quality, with a better scanner, frame by frame, on the film.

Not sure if I see chroma noise -- have to see video in motion for that.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

The "white halo" and "blue halo" problems can't be fixed as far as I know. The too blue shot can be fixed with some color filters -- like AviSynth's Gradation Curves, possibly with a chroma reduction/shift. The one you called "shadows" might be helped by a chroma shift. What really needs to be done: someone should go back to the negatives or film and start all over. Last edited by jagabo; 26th Apr 2010 at 19:39.

First I would like to thank both of you for the time taken to reply as I've struggled for days to find some help for my issues.

Second, the transfer of the movie to digital format once again is out of my reach, I try to correct what's already on a commercial DVD(the last yellowish picture is what the original looks like)...
In other words BlindDeHalo3 and/or Dehalo_Alpha, or any DeHalo filters that might exist are useless for the above issues and I should accept the fact that I reached an editing limit?

Unless you have a family member in this movie, it's not going to be worth your trouble to restore. It's too smeared to ever look significantly better. Those halos are too wide to fix. Have you looked for a better source? "Quality is cool, but don't forget... Content is King!"

Color correction might make the halos/etc look worse.
On my calibrated monitor, the "fix" version on the right is still off -- just green instead of red/orange.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
