  1. I'm using a Dazzle Hollywood Bridge card to transfer VHS to VCD. Capturing via Video Studio 5 works fine although the sound on the video that has been captured does sound slightly distorted on playback and on the final VCD. Its almost as though the volume is too high.

I've read elsewhere that the input volume can be turned down using Windows Volume controls when capturing using other cards. As this is coming through a Pyro Firewire card I can't seem to find anything to do with volume.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kevin

I am a newbie so feel free to take this advice with a grain of salt: I had the same problem until I loaded the sound into GoldWave. Seems the sound was way too high. I sent it through a noise reduction mode, and remultiplexed it and the sound worked fine.

  3. Thanks for the response. I'll give it a go. Are there any particular settings you use.

For VCD, I use the VCD TMPGEnc templates from www.kvcd.net. As for the sound file noise reduction function, I went with its default setting.

OK, not sure if this will work for that card, but:

Right-click that speaker in your systray - Open Volume Control - Options - Properties - Recording - OK

Whatever input your capture uses is probably cranked up (thus your recordings are distorting). Turn it down a little (not the master slider, just the one the cap uses, do a test capture, play it back, adjust as necessary.

    Best of luck.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
