I got Pinnacle Pro-ONE, but really hate capturing into avi then encoding to mpeg1 or mpeg2. Heard that PowerVCR II can do real time mpeg capturing, downloaded the trial but got some problem somewhere recording. So anyone tell me the good software real-time mpeg capturing solution? Heard people talking about Dazzle DVD creation station which has a hardware mpeg2 encoder yet someone said you have to re-encode the captured clips...

Try CanopusMVR1000(under $699). Having tried PinnacleDV500+,Matrox RT2500 & Pixelviewmaker($230) all three having problems working with Winxp pro or my Dual AMD mobo. This canopus worked beautifully for me. Captured NBA games VBR min 4500 max 8000 audio192 from off air antenna 120 mns output file size just under 4gb import to spruceUp.Captured Quality just like the sources.
I decided to choose Canopus over Panasonic DMR E20 DVD recorder because of Three years warranty and Canopus reputation of Reliability.

The new WinTV PVR-250 seems to be the best encoder so far. It has good quality VCD, very good SVCD and excellent DVD quality captures in real-time hardware encoding, and it's only $150!

The new Matrox RTX.100 is a killer product. It's definitely raising the bar for real-time NLE performance. The ability to export your Premioere timeline to MPEG2 in real-time is a very cool feature. You also get integrated ligos gomotion for VCD, SVCD and tweaking the MPEG2 output.

Stay away from the ADS Instant DVD unless you want poor SVCD captures and like movies that are out of sync when cut.
