  1. i have used several programs to burn a vcd, easy video cd creator, videowave 5.0, windows movie maker, and probably several others too....
i am using the right format and all that - the programs make you meet the standard before they will burn. i am not creating menu's or pages - and that could be the problem, just using the simple menu thing, all i want is to pop it in to my home dvd player and it play. my home dvd is vcd compatable- says it right on the front of the unit. when i load the vcd into the stand alone, it says "loading" for several seconds, then says " no cd is present". any thoughts.

  4. Samsung dvd-611 (dvd / video-cd / cd player) says right on front of unit.
i also read to try to burn a music cd with both cd-r and cd-rw- i did that and they won't play either, get the "no disc" error message, but regular music cds play fine.

    thoughts????

  7. I remember helping a m8 out once who had a Samsung 709 and it was real picky about which media to use - I think we found a brand of media from Argos that worked in his instance

  8. I had that dvd player. Although it says "Video cd" right on the front, it wouldn't play them for me either. After having it for 4 months, Best Buy still took the machine back as they were aware of this problem, false advertising? (this was over a year ago). That's a known problem with Samsung. I bet if you try the disc in a friends machine it will work. Circuit city has a great player on sale right now that I guarantee will work. Apex AD-5131, a 3 disc carosel dvd player, amazing machine for the price..... best success.

  9. Ooops, PS, the Apex AD-5131 is on sale for $99 at Circuit City. If you might consider getting one, take one of your recorded discs with you, it will play.

  10. Buy a better machine for a cheaper price the Daewoo 5700 plays everything and has a much better picture and sound chip than APEX, which tend to have a lot of audio sync problems I know I owed 3 before switching over to this great player. It not only plays the SVCD and VCD but all the way up to 7000 bitrate also that APEX will choke on anything over 3500.
But I had this same problem on a toshiba 2050 and I had to hunt around and try different media with different dyes until I found one that worked, mine was Sony and Frys Electronics brand of CD-R's that were meduim blue-silver dye, from then on it played any VCD I made with that media.
