It does work! It says it alters one of the ati?????.sys files that ati adds to prevent copy. But first I suggest doing a search on your system for that ati file mentioned in the patch instructions, to see how many of that file is on your drive. I had 3 copies of that ati sys file. One in a ati temp folder, one in ati install folder and then one in the system32 folder (something like that). I renamed all the ati sys file copies except for the one in the system32 folder. Then I ran the macrovision disable patch and it said it worked. Rebooted, and it did work. I now can copy those vhs tapes and make vcd's. Thanks to everyone involved with this patch. It saved me from buying that Sima Mastercopy device for $50.

It was a bit hard to find. Go to the site link, go to "download" (listed on the left). Scroll down till you see "support utils", click on that. Then right under the heading "support utils", click on "show me more". There you should find it a few items down in the list ATI MACROVISION REMOVER. It works!

i got the file, download, extract, and execute. it did patch the file in the system32 directory. rebooted the pc and tried to play a commercial vhs tape. it seems that the microvision is still poping up up. the video is still fades from dark to light etc... I wonder if the patch applies for all ati card with said filename ati*xx.sys or is there any update for the file. it seems it was dated 2 years ago. any ideas or more info on this AIW macrovision?????
