I use Nero (V 8) with XP and a Sony Burner; after burning many hundreds of movies I am all of a sudden having problem with the end of the movies being cut off. If I play the Divx in my DVD player the ending is cut off. If I play the movie from the computer, the movie is complete. I have upgraded to a newer Ver of Nero (from 7 to 8) and even used a different burned software (CDBurnerXP) with the same results. I have burned at the lowest speed and everything else I can think of with the same results. I have tested older Divx movies and they work fine, so it dosen't seem to be a [problem with by DVD player.
Is it the burner itself? Is there any way to test the burner?
Any help greatly appreciated.

I can think of several possibilities:
When you say you play the Divx in the computer, do you mean the computer file or the burned disc itself? If the disc works in the computer, maybe the file is too large for your player? Check to see if what the size is. Software computer players are also more tolerant of discs with errors than a set top player.
Also, are you burning the files as Divx or converting them to DVD MPEG files? It's not too clear.
What brand of disc are you using? Cheap discs usually fail in the last part of the disc or movie. This would be towards the outside rim of disc. Try a different brand.
There is a possibility that the burner is the problem. Something like this can be caused by an overheated burner, which also could happen towards the outside of the disc. You can use a program like Nero DiscSpeed to check the disc. With Nero, also check the Nero burning log.
I'd probably suggest using ImgBurn instead of Nero, but Nero may not be the problem here.

From the burned disc. This problem is fairly new; the dvd player has never been a problem before. I played some Divx movies that was burned before this problem developed and there was no problem. The end of the movie is cut off on both +700 mb and 1.4 gb movies.

I dl the Divx files from Newzbin and use Newsleecher. I watch 98% of the movies from a 1TB harddrive on the HD TV through a D-Link Wireless Media server, but occasionally need to burn a Divx disc for a friend or to take to out lake place.

I am using Verbatim and have had very little problem with this brand in the past.
It just occurred to me that I have recently been seen a "virtual Memory Min to low" error message on my computer. Can this be the problem. The weird thing is that this problem just cropped up and that the disc plays fine from the computer, but from the DVD player (A Samsung AR 650).

I ran Nero DiscSpeed. Advise your email address and I will send the results.

I have used a couple of burner software after this problem developed with the same results. I have burned 2-3 movies 6-7 times and the movies all stop at the exact same scene every time.
Again, thank you for your help.

I don't use DiscSpeed often enough to be much help on reading the data.
You could post a screen shot of the results here. I was suggesting comparing the data from a known good disc to a problem disc to see if there is a problem with the burn or burner.
Usually 'virtual memory' is referring to the use of your hard drive for temporary storage when your system memory is low. For example, if you had maybe 256MB of RAM, the hard drive would be used for additional temp memory. If your hard drive was almost full or badly fragmented, then you may see problems with virtual memory. You would also see your hard drive storage light flickering a lot and slower computer operation.
But your computer details show 1GB of RAM, which is about right for XP. But you do want to keep your boot hard drive about 60% - 70% or less full and defrag it occasionally if you are moving a lot a files in and out. If you only have one hard drive for both boot and storage that's not too efficient as the OS is constantly accessing the boot drive. Better is two HDDs, one for boot and one for data/storage. I use three most times, with the third used for archiving, the second for editing and the first, smaller drive, for boot.
But none of that is likely to have anything to do with your specific problem.
I would examine your burning logs to see if anything shows up there. If the data was correct before burning, then it points to the burner, the burning software or the media. If you rule out the software and the media, then the burner is suspect. But the logs and DiscSpeed should show that.
If they don't and the disc plays properly on other players, then your player is suspect. -
Also, posting GSpot screenshots from both a file that plays with no problem on your player, as well as one that has the problem, might help. Maybe someone will notice what might be causing the problem.
What player model are you using? If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
He never said what kind of disc (data or DVD) or file he was burning. The specs on the recorder/player says that it will play divx so he needs to be burning a data disc. Without him making this clear, I can only assume that he is encoding the divx file to mpeg2 and the resulting file will not fit on a 4.3 GB disc.
If the divx file is over 4 GB, that could be the problem also since hardware players don't support AVI files over 4 GB.
