	Hi,

thanks for taking the time to answer. Yes, I know, I am one of the few nearly extinct people who actually buy movies they like
The problem is, NOTHING happens. It is as if you do not changed anything at all. You choose any entry from the following list and then it returns to the menu with no changes.
Something simmilar happens with audio btw. Example: X-Files, any season, but there you cannot even choose from arbitrary audio; only from the menu. Also the subtitles can only be chosen in the main menu.
If you see ANY way to do this, this would be great. It is really a shame that you can achive something easier with downloading files than by acutally buying the DVDs you like.

 Best Regards

	Hi again,

sorry, my answer was misleading. If you press the button, the icon appears (and nothing changes). If you try to change via the menu, THEN nothing has changed, since you still see the same language in the menu.

This firmware has nothing do with subtitles on DVD's. It only effects subtitles on Divx files. You will need to search elsewhere to find a solution to your problem.Originally Posted by JohnMay

Thanks anyway. It nevertheless is a great firmware

I like the new look. Everything works great. I ended up changing the "1250" OSD Font to "Impact". Thanks vb6rocod.

1250 ? From where you are? (if I'm not indiscreet)Originally Posted by Tripper_

No, it's OK. I'm accustomed to European CP (Western is 1252), but basic latin alphabet is common in all (US/English).Originally Posted by Tripper_

	Hello, Tripper_Originally Posted by Tripper_

I had a bad firmware upgrade, and my player came back to life with a serial cable and MKTTool.

But now I have no HDMI, because of no HDCP block on my firmware. And I didn't make a backup of the full firmware before.

Is there any way to have the HDMI alive again?

Since I live in Brazil, and the player was bought in the US, returning the player on the store is not an option.

 Thank's in forward,

This should get you going again. You need to flash using MtkTool. Let me know if it works.Originally Posted by estern

vb6rocod you try to unlock DTS decoder of analog outputs as in DVP5996K/51. Thanks in advance.
-
Can you post a link (to download) to this firmware? Are you sure about this?Originally Posted by todd_bg

To be sure that DVP5996K/51 supports DTS in Analogue outputs read this. http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvp5996k_51/dvp5996k_51_pss_aen.pdf
File says Sound System: Dolby Digital, DTS.

 firmware: https://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpcontent.pl?scy=BG&slg=BUL&mid=Link_Softwa...51_fur_eng.pdf
This is official firmware. Can you use it on DVP5990K/12 to unlock DTS decoder of analog outputs.

 Sorry for my bad English.
-
You give me some hope... but no.Originally Posted by todd_bg
I read more, and this model has a hardware decoder + 5.1 outputs. The firmware is the same like 5990, so the problem is not soft.... too bad.
-
I don't know if this is the right section to post a question about 5990.
I read that this player does not support DTS audio by the analogic output.

My question is: if I use the coaxial output and an external DTS decoder, I can listen the DTS audio tracks?
I have the creative ddts-100 and i'd like to use it as decoder.

 Thanks for your help
-
This should work since the signal is transferred digitally over coaxial and the Creative supports DTS.
-
	My player 5990/12 is dead
Could you someone send me serial flash?

 Thank you

	Hi everyone!

New here and I have ha couple of issues with DVP5990_12_vb6_v6:

 * Filename length nowhere near 40+ chrs, more like 20 or there about.
 * Black colour in subs is a bright pink
 * goto does not relate to time but to file

Can't figure out why this is. Any ideas?
-
It's nothing wrong with this firmware!!! If you don't know how to use, don't bring confusion...Originally Posted by Cerasus

	Hi friends,

is it possible to see on 5990 display id3 tags, or names of mp3 files played on 5990 ? Or is it possible to modify it via firmware? I think that 5960 do that, 5980 with any firmware too. It is important listen to music and not having run TV. Or which player knows that (I only found YAMAHA 661,663)

 big THANX

 in English : Yamaha 661 = Philips DVP-5160, Yamaha 663 = DVP-5980S

So on Yamaha ID3 tags works. So I think this must be the same in 5990(80), is not it?

 Is it working on5960?
-
First, I don't speak German. I understand you want to see ID3 TAG on Player display, not on TV.Originally Posted by hujercz
