I"m suposed to make a video for school by monday. They have me a Sony DCR TRV520

I can't install it. Windows XP says it cannot find the device driver.

I've searched and searched but all I can find is specs and white papers.

They didn't give me a cd and I may not be able to borrow it over the weekend.

    Please help

well if all else fails, just use the analogue connections (capture). A possible solution is that you may need to update to dx 8.1

    Hi,

It says it needs to install an AV/C Multifunction Device Driver
Ensure your OS is completely up-to-date, including DirectX 8.1. Only Win98 Second Edition, WinME, Win 2000 (I think), and WinXP support Firewire. Microsoft's Windows Update site is www.windowsupdate.com

    Try Sony's website: www.sony.com

    This problem is spreading.

I bought a Dazzle DV Bridge and it's detected as an AV/C Tape recorder/player

My hitachi camera isn't detected either

No one knows what the problem is?

Should I just reformat my hard drive?

greg 12, have you actually tried to transfer data from the camera to the hd. What software are you using? I had a similar issue, and all i did was installed dx 8.1 and everything worked fine. when you read this, pm me on the new irc channel and ill see if i can help you out.

    Hi,

I bought a Dazzle DV Bridge and it's detected as an AV/C Tape recorder/player
Thats how my Hollywood Bridge is reported by numerous capture programs. It seems "everybody" assumes that any AV device on firewire is a camera... which taint necessaruly so.

Try using the "Scernalyzer" trial (see the Tools secion on this website) for capturing. I use the full version with excellent results.

    Hi Again,

Should I just reformat my hard drive?

A badly fragmented HD could/should show up only as dropped frames.

A really screwed-up OS environment could cause this kind of problem and could necessitate a reformat and reinstall. This is often faster than trying to resolve issues like this. If you do reformat DON'T INSTALL ANYTHING YOU DON'T ABSOLUTELY NEED BEFORE RETESTING THE "CAMERAS".
