    FLV Video Decoder

when i'm clickin on one of them i get this:

Codec Sniper is one removal tool. CoreAVC is probably for H.264 video. Looks like you still have a CyberLink codec that will still work. FLV is probably for flash videos. Probably used for browser playback of online files. Easy enough to reinstall if needed.

  3. Thanks for the help man.

the warning at the bottom of this tool freaked me out a lil bit...
"BE CAREFUL!!! This little tool can turn your video machine into an unusable state"

usually i dont let phrases as this one to intimidate me... :P
but this list is to much for me.

first - it shows that all codecs' status is "o.k."...
second - i cant recognize the FLV codec and PowerDVD got so many codecs on my PC!!! (maybe too much...)

    here's Codec Snipers diagnosis:

You can easily "format" your PC concerning to Codecs, at least with Windows XP, I fixed a lot of PCs this way :

    - removed all, and I mean all from that CodecSniper List
    - removed all .AX from System32

    re-installing

    - Koepi XVid
    - AC3 Filter
    - CCCP
    - fraunhofer mpeg layer-3

    reinstall Windows Media Player
    reinstall Nero

reinstalling WMP will recover playback of WMV, and other formats
reinstalling NERO will recover playback of DVDs, MPEGs...etc...

I would probably just leave them as is, unless you are having playback problems with either format. It looks like you may have other codecs that will work in their place and that may be why your first program showed them as broken. Codec sniper seems to say they're OK.

Most of those codecs appear to be from Nero and Cyberlink and if they are 'getting along' with each other without conflicts, you may not really have a problem.

I'm guessing #87 is your AVC codec and #163 is the FLV. Those also appear to be audio decoders, not video.

are you sure that none of the codecs in the list are needed for Windows to work properly?
    cause this is very nice...
i mean - its a great way to clean my machine from all the junk and i might gonna format all the codecs.

Thank you all for the great help!

Thank you all for the great help!

I only recommend to do that in Windows XP

And yes, you can remove everything I said, but only if

    - you have Windows Media Player to reinstall
    - you have Nero to reinstall ( or repair )

    The process :

    1) start windows in safe mode
    2) remove all codec packages in windows control panel
    3) remove all the codec from ConecSniper list
    4) remove all .AX files in System32

    fixing the system

    1) install XVid Koepi
    2) install Fraunhofer mpeg layer-3 codec
    3) install CCCP
    4) install AC3 Filter

    Reinstall Windows Media Player
    Reinstall NERO

a bunch of filters/codecs in the system

but be a aware about NERO, you should have the version that comes with Nero Showtime, and Windows Media Player to reinstall

Otherwise you will get into trouble

And of course, after cleaning the system, if you need to playback some exotic format such as RMVB or other, you will need to activate A/V decode in CCCP or reinstall RealAlternative

Is a good version, Nero will just reinstall all you need to playback Mpeg, Mpeg2, etc....

If you have Nero Showtime, and Nero Showtime plays that...then you have what I said

menu START - Programs - Combined Community Codec Pack

    ffdshow video decoder configuration

in the left side - select first option : codecs

enable to libavcodec for Generic MPG4, other MPEG4, H.264 in the list

And, enable FLV1 for playback youtube videos

then, install THIS and RUN because it will register FLVSplitter and MKVSplitter in your system for the above media types

Take a look in the tools section, look under Codecs and you will find this: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/DivX_3.11 . That should work.

For someone who needs here is all STEP-BY-STEP tutorial to restore completely a damaged PC with codecs conflits and issues like that

    ---------------------------------------------------
    To clean up the system

ONLY, AND ONLY FOR WINDOWS XP

    ---------------------------------------------------

    1) start the system in Safe Mode
    2) remove all installed codec packs you have, control panel : add/remove programs
    3) use o Codec_Sniper, and remove all, and I mean literally everything in the list

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Codec_Sniper

    4) remove all .AX files in Windows/System32

Be aware not to do a fatal mistake, it is your system path...

At this point you have a perfect clean windows, but a USELESS MEDIA MACHINE, nothing works

    --------------------------------------------------
    RESTORING THE SYSTEM
    --------------------------------------------------

    1) Install Koepi XviD

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Koepi_XviD.htm

    2) Install Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPEG_Layer_3_Codec.htm

    3) Install o AC3-Filter

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AC3_Filter.htm

    4) Install o AC3-ACM decompressor

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AC-3_ACM_Decompressor.htm

    Useful for vdub

    5) Install DIV-3, Low-motion

    (EDIT)

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/DivX_3.11

Thanks to träskmannen for the alternative link

    (/EDIT)

At this point you can play AVI files

NOTE: I also recommend CCCP because is useful for playing Youtube Videos and some other exotic formats. Is a light version of FFDSHOW

How to configure CCCP : just DISABLE ALL codecs, and ENABLE 1-by-1 as you need...

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIX for playing DVDs, Mpegs, WMVs e and other formats
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Make a repair installation of NERO...it will restore all needed codecs to playback VOBs, DVDs..MPEGs...., and much more

I like NERO, and Nero Showtime is my primary player for DVDs...

Be aware of the version of NERO

    2) reinstall Windows Media Player

This will restore all the filters to play WMV and other stuff

    ------------------------------
    FIX for Subtitles
    ------------------------------

Render for subtitles in order to work with all players

    1) Direct vobSub

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm

    ------------------------------
    Some extra info and DEBUGs
    ------------------------------

    1) VSO ConvertXtoDVD doesn't need codecs. It has and uses it's own libraries

Run VSO in a formated machine and it just works

    2) I never discharge this tools to check my system codecs

    Thanks for that man,
but i think (correct me if i'm wrong) that the new DivX 6.8 allows you to play and decode Div3.

Delta2, Thanks for the great, useful tutorial!
    just one more question...
doesn't AC3 Filter also installing the AC3-ACM decompressor?

Only VFW codecs are visible to Vdub, AC3 filter gives a unknown tag 2000 in Vdub, sometimes that can be configured in FFDSHOW, some times not.

How does your system behave now ?
