What are you ripping with ?
What are you playing them back with ?
Are you doing anything to them in between ?

  3. I play them with Power DVD or Media player. Rip them with DVD shrink.
It happens with downloded DVDs too. I wonder if its a codex problem?

Try playing one with VLC Media Player. It uses it's own codecs, so it's one way to test if you have a codec problem.

  5. Do un-ripped DVDs play blocky as well? You didn't specifically say whether you had identical problems with the original DVDs before ripping them.
